This week was filled with celebrations, including the 100th day of school, a milestone in every school and district and a moment to reflect on our goals and progress. It’s also a great opportunity to have a little fun, and you can see some of our favorite pictures from Pingree's 100th day celebrations below. Additional highlights this week include:
- One of our most exciting moments this year, and in our district’s history, remains the grand opening of the Maria Weston Chapman Middle School filled with state of the art learning experiences and exploratory spaces that any district would be proud of. With the opening of Chapman we have continued to make improvements to other spaces to more adequately meet our needs as a district.
- Our administrative offices have officially moved to the former Abigail Adams Middle School facility at 89 Middle Street. To make an appointment, or contact the school department, the main number remains the same (1-781-335-1460).
- Our students at Seach were morning stars on Wednesday as they were featured on WCVB Channel 5's Wake Up Call after a visit from meteorologist David Williams to talk about the record low, and unseasonably warm temperatures.
- Chapman Middle School students were starstruck as they welcomed author Shawn Peters who wrote the debut middle grade novel, The Unforgettable Logan Foster.
- The WHS Dance team was named Bay State Dance Champions!
- This week we celebrated our school counselors during National School Counselor week. We are fortunate to have dedicated guidance and adjustment counselors available to support our students and their families who provide services to help our students achieve their short and long-term personal and academic goals.
Lastly, on behalf of Weymouth Public Schools, I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to the relatives, friends, and colleagues of former Superintendent Bob West whose services were held this morning. As a teacher, guidance counselor, and administrator in Weymouth for 42 years; his impact and contributions to our school community are immeasurable and will be felt for generations to come.
Have a great weekend, Wildcats! We look forward to seeing our students back in school on Monday.
Kind Regards,
Robert Wargo
Superintendent
