Cougar Chronicle
November Weekly Update November 21, 2025
A note from Mr. Lee
As we head into Thanksgiving week, I want to take a moment to wish all of our Carter families a restful, meaningful, and well deserved break. These next few days are an opportunity for all of us, students, staff, and families, to slow down, recharge, and spend time with the people who matter most.
At Carter, we talk often about the importance of balance and taking care of ourselves mentally and emotionally. This year, we have been intentional about creating a true wellness break for our students. That means no homework, no studying, and no assignments hanging over their heads. We want our kids to genuinely enjoy the holiday, reset, and come back refreshed and ready to learn.
Thanksgiving looks different for every family. Some gather around big tables, some travel to see relatives, some watch football, and some hold quiet traditions at home. All of these moments matter. My hope is that wherever the break takes you, it brings joy, warmth, and connection.
From my family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy your traditions, make a few new memories, and take care of yourselves. We are grateful for your partnership and for the wonderful students you share with us every day.
Have a safe, fun, and relaxing break.
We look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday.
Go Cougars!
Special Remarks from Mr. Syswerda
Thank you!

Elks Hoop Shoot
Your local Elks Lodges, Clawson-Troy Elks #2169 and Macomb Elks #2292 are hosting the Elks National Foundation Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest on Sunday, November 23rd at 1:30 PM. The contest will be held at the Boys & Girls Club of Troy at 3670 John R Road Troy, MI 48083.
The Hoop Shoot is a free throw contest for youth ages 8-13 open (you do not need to be an Elks Member or associated with the Elks). The program is free to all contestants and provides youth an opportunity to compete, connect and succeed through hard work and healthy competition.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Kids are separated into three age groups, 8-9, 10-11, and 12-13, with girls and boys competing separately (age group is based on the contestant age on April 1, 2025).
Contestants advance through local contests, starting with a Lodge contest, followed by Districts, States, and Regionals to the National Finals in Chicago. Six National Champions will have their names and photos displayed at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts.
WHY HOOP SHOOT?
Gritty kids are determined hard workers. Gritty kids become gritty adults with strong work ethics and goal-setting skills. It’s free! The Elks cover travel costs through each level.
