Dear Blackhawk Middle School Families,

I hope you are enjoying a restful and fun-filled summer with your loved ones! As we prepare for an exciting new school year, I wanted to share a few important updates with you.

🎉 6th Grade Orientation
We are thrilled to welcome our incoming 6th grade students and their families on Wednesday, August 13! See more details below.

🏫 Open House
Also on August 13, we invite all BMS families and community members to join us for our Open House from 3:00–4:00 PM. It’s a great opportunity to meet staff, explore the school, and get ready for a fantastic year.

🌟 Meet the Teachers

All students and families are welcome to meet the teachers on August 19 from 2:30-3:30 PM.

• BMS Meet the Teachers (Last Names A-K) - 2:30 PM - 3:00 PM
• BMS Meet the Teachers (Last Names L-Z) - 3:00 PM - 3:30 PM

📅 First Day of School
The first day of school for all students is Wednesday, August 20. Students are welcome to enter the school building at 7:30 AM. Classes begin at 7:50 AM! Be a STAR and be on time!

I will send more information about the upcoming school year next Friday, August 1.

• Shorts – $7

• Shirts – $8

• Full set (shorts + shirt) – $15

Blackhawk Middle School is hosting orientation for incoming sixth graders on Wednesday, August 13, with two sessions available:

• 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

• 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Families and sixth-grade students are invited to attend whichever session is most convenient.

During orientation, new sixth graders will:

• Meet school administrators

• Tour the school

• Try out their lockers

• Purchase PE uniforms

Blackhawk Middle School – Open House

Where: Inside Blackhawk Middle School (250 S. Church Rd, Bensenville, IL)

Come celebrate our newly renovated spaces with the whole community!

Refreshments will be served.

Meet several community partners on-site:

• Bensenville Park District: Learn about programs and resources
• BSD2 Care: Discover district-wide support services
• Bensenville Library: Find out about upcoming events
• Fischer Farm: Explore educational opportunities

All are welcome—bring family, friends, and neighbors to check out the updates and connect with local resources.

Interested in joining our PTO? We meet in the cafeteria once a month and start promptly at 6:30 PM.

Our first meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 4.
