Mask Reminder

Please remember to send your child to school wearing a clean mask every day and also place an extra mask in your child's backpack. Masks tend to break and/or get soiled often and it would be helpful to have a spare available. Thank you!
Please remember to label hoodies, coats and water bottles and ESPECIALLY lunch boxes with names or initials so we can return items to their rightful owner! The Lost & Found tables are currently placed in the main hallway to make it easy for students to grab their belongings as they walk by.

If you recognize any items in these photos, please call the office at 215-809-6310.

Items that are not claimed are donated several times a year.

Math Fun!

In Second Grade, students are learning a variety of mental math strategies for addition and subtraction. When we read a word problem, we like to create a visual representation. Check out the different fun ways that our students have been learning math below!

Ms. Atwater's Class

When the bar model was introduced in our class, students couldn't help but notice how much it looks like a chocolate bar! So, we created chocolate bars to show our bar model and gum drops to show a number bond! Math really is SWEET!

Mrs. Tryon's Class

The third graders have started learning multiplication! They have learned that multiplication only works with equal groups. One strategy to solving a multiplication problem is to draw an array. Mrs. Tryon’s class created their own “Multiplication Array Monsters” this week. They rolled dice to generate their two factors, then used googly eyes to make an array to find the product of their equation.

Ms. Johnson

Hi! My name is Rebecca Johnson, and I am a school counselor here at Tawanka. This is my first year at Tawanka, but I have worked at other Neshaminy schools in the past, and I am even a Neshaminy graduate myself. I received my undergraduate degree at Gettysburg College and my master’s degree in counseling services at Rider University. I enjoy spending time outside; I like hiking when the weather is nice and snowboarding in the winter. I am very excited to work with the Tawanka community and get to know the students and families here each day.
