A message from the superintendent
International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program
Dear Everett Public Schools community,
The school year is off to a fantastic start! Thank you to our staff for welcoming students with such great energy and care. It was wonderful to see our students smiling and ready to learn. This is going to be an excellent school year! New opportunities for students are happening now, and more are on the horizon.
I am proud to announce that Cascade High School (CHS) is now a Candidate School for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program! CHS is working toward authorization as an IB World School. This program will give students in our district a different way to engage in rigorous coursework, develop critical thinking skills, and prepare for success in a global society. Once authorized as an IB World School, this program will be available as an option to all students in Everett Public Schools.
Starting this fall, families and students will begin to learn more about the program. CHS will host the first IB Information Night on Thursday, October 23, from 6–7 p.m. in the school's library. All district families and students are invited. I hope you will join us. You can find more information about the IB Diploma Program on our website and by watching the video below.
I look forward to all that this school year holds for our students and staff. Together we will inspire, achieve, and thrive.
Be safe and be well,
Dr. Ian B. Saltzman
Superintendent
Parent University
Parent University provides video resources for families on important and informative topics related to their student's education.
Check out the Parent U video below, which highlights seatbelts in propane-powered buses. State law requires all riders to wear lap-shoulder belts. As we continue to replace our large-capacity buses, they will also be equipped with this important safety feature. Please watch the video with your student to learn how to use the seatbelts properly.
Attendance matters every day
Regular attendance is crucial for your student's success at Everett Public Schools. Being in school daily helps students stay engaged, build relationships, and develop essential habits for the future.
To learn more about building the habit of good attendance and about attendance policy and procedures, please visit the district website.
For questions on your student’s attendance, please contact your student’s principal.
When is your student too sick for school?
Use this simple tool to know when your student should stay home sick and when it is safe for them to attend school.
Access your family's immunization information
To access your family's immunization information from the Washington State registry visit, sign up for MyIR to view, download, and print your student's immunization records securely online. Once you register, you can access the records anytime you need them. You can print your child's Certificate of Immunization Status for school, childcare, and camp programs.
School safety is a team effort
Everett Public Schools recognizes that schools should be places where our students, staff, and community feel safe. Teamwork makes this possible. We employ security staff and school resource officers (SROs) who work collaboratively with our school communities to ensure safety and security across the district.
Campus Security Officers (CSOs) perform checks of campuses during school hours to prevent unauthorized access, deter illegal activity, assist in investigations, assist with student supervision, and share information with staff and students concerning safety measures.
School Resource Officers (SROs) are police officers who serve secondary school campuses while schools are in session and partner with principals to improve safety by identifying, investigating, deterring, and responding to incidents that present a significant threat to safety and security.
Safety and security staff work to build healthy, positive relationships with our students, staff, and community to ensure a safe school environment for learning. Learn more: www.everettsd.org/safety.
