AP/IB Testing Proctors Needed
We will need your help to proctor more than 2,600 AP exams and over 500 IB exams in May. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide any graduations tickets as we have in years past.
Below, you can find the Sign-up genius links to help proctor. Please review the testing schedule to see when you may be available to support our students.
Proctoring is very easy, and we couldn't do it without you. Each test already has a lead proctor, so now we need additional proctors to help monitor students.
We appreciate your time! Your help saves thousands of dollars each year that go back into resources, supplies for students, and teacher training.
Note: You cannot proctor an exam for a test your student is taking, so please check with them before signing up.

AP and IB at a glance schedule
Twenty eight AP exams are digital this year! It will be imperative for students to have a fully charged device on examination day. Make sure your student powered down and restarted their device recently so they have current updates. Please review your student's AP exam schedule and set reminders to charge devices at home. Students can check their exam schedule in Total Registration.
ATTENDANCE INFORMATION
Your student will only be cleared for the time during their test. If they wish to arrive late or be dismissed early, please send in the request in to attendance at least 48 hours in advance. If requests are made the day of the exam, we may not be able to accommodate the release.
Please do not plan or schedule any appointments directly following any exam. There are times when exams run over the estimated time. Students are not permitted to leave until ALL students have finished and proctors have verified ALL materials.
EXAM CANCELLATIONS
If your student wishes to cancel their exam, please make sure they do so in Total Registration. There are no more refunds at this time, but it helps us keep accurate records so we know who to expect on exam day.
LUNCH
For afternoon exams, students will be released 30 minutes early to eat lunch. In order to help our cafeteria staff, we ask that students fill out this Google Form to let us know which day(s) they need lunch from the cafeteria.
Please email Mrs. Casady in the SPIRIT center if you have questions.

Congratulations RCOE Academic Award Winners
This past week, the Great Oak community gathered to celebrate a momentous occasion as the Riverside County Office of Education hosted its annual Student Academic Awards. We are thrilled to share that Great Oak High School was well-represented by three of our most outstanding seniors:
- Charles Zhang (Not pictured, unable to attend)
- Chloe Tan
- Divyamsu Nallamothu (Not pictured, unable to attend)
Honoring Our Top Seniors
The Student Academic Awards are a county-wide celebration of dedication, perseverance, and high academic achievement. Based on our school enrollment, Great Oak had the privilege of selecting three 12th-grade students to walk across the stage and be recognized for their years of hard work.
Our honorees joined the best and brightest from across the county to receive their awards, marking a significant milestone in their educational careers.
Why This Matters
These awards aren't just about high GPAs; they are about the character it takes to stay committed to a goal over four years. Whether it’s mastering complex subjects or leading their peers, our three honorees have set a standard of excellence for the entire Great Oak community.
Please join us in a huge round of applause for our three outstanding seniors!
April Student of the Month: Ben Noworolski
We are thrilled to announce that the April Student of the Month is Ben Noworolski! Ben truly embodies the SPIRIT of Great Oak through his academic curiosity, leadership, and character.
Here is a look at why Ben was selected for this honor:
Scholarship & Passion: Ben has an incredible hunger for knowledge, whether he’s diving deep into the complexities of astrophysics or asking the kind of thoughtful questions that inspire his entire class to think bigger.
Leadership in Action: As a leader in Mu Alpha Theta, Ben demonstrates the power of Involvement and Teamwork. He doesn't just solve problems; he builds a community where his peers feel empowered to learn and grow alongside him.
Integrity & Reflection: He approaches every challenge with humility and a collaborative spirit, always looking for ways to elevate those around him.
A Joyful Spirit: Despite tackling heavy topics like sonic booms and the mysteries of the universe, Ben keeps us smiling with his great sense of humor and appreciation for the "little things" in life.
Please join us in celebrating Ben for representing the very best of our school community.

Accepting Our 2026 CA Distinguished School Award
We are incredibly proud to share some monumental news with our Pack: this week, Great Oak High School officially accepted the 2026 California Distinguished School Award!
This prestigious honor, awarded by the California Department of Education, recognizes schools that demonstrate exemplary achievements in academic excellence and narrowing the achievement gap. Out of thousands of schools across the state, Great Oak was selected for our commitment to providing an outstanding educational experience for every student.
The California Distinguished Schools Program looks at several key factors where our students and staff truly shined:
Academic Excellence: High performance across core subjects and college readiness.
Growth & Success: Exceptional progress in student learning and closing performance gaps.
Positive Campus Culture: Our collective commitment to the SPIRIT of Great Oak—Scholarship, Passion, Integrity, Reflection, Involvement, and Teamwork.
While we accepted the trophy this week, this award belongs to everyone. It is a testament to the hard work of our dedicated teachers, the persistence of our students, and the unwavering support of our parents and community members.
Thank you for making Great Oak a place where excellence is not just a goal, but a daily reality. Go Wolfpack!

PBIS: No Go List and Student Account Remminders
Great Oak High School is committed to supporting positive student behavior and accountability. As part of our PBIS system, we want to remind families about the expectations surrounding detention hours and the NO GO List.
Students who accumulate 8 or more hours of detention—due to tardies, single-period truancies, and/or disciplinary actions—are placed on the NO GO List. When a student is on this list, their school account is locked, which restricts them from making purchases at bookkeeping and on the webstore. This includes items such as dance tickets, parking permits and GRADUATION TICKETS! Additionally, students on the NO GO List are not permitted to attend school events, including WSB activities and athletic contests. For student-athletes, this also means they cannot leave school early for away games!
Students can be removed from the NO GO List by reducing their detention hours to below 8 hours. Opportunities to serve detention include:
Before School: 7:50–8:20 AM (Room 306)
Lunch: Room 306
Saturday School: Counts for 4 hours
We encourage families to partner with us in helping students take advantage of these opportunities to clear their hours, regain privileges, and stay engaged in the full school experience.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our PBIS Coordinator, Mr. Morton.
