Principal's Letter
Dear North Star Community,
One of the things I am most proud of is how our community consistently comes together to support one another. The way we rally in times of need is truly inspiring and reflects the heart of who we are.
In today’s newsletter, we are sharing a call to action on behalf of one of our Gryphon families whose apartment was lost in a fire that spread across several units. Thankfully, everyone is safe, which is what matters most. As the family begins the difficult process of starting over, we are asking our community to support in any way you are able. It is time, once again, for us to lift up one of our own and show the love, care, and compassion that define North Star.
As news of this event spreads, it may also bring up emotions or questions for your child. Our counseling team is ready and available to support any scholar who would like help processing their feelings. Taking care of this family is important, and so is taking care of one another.
It’s time to be amazing, North Star. I have never been prouder to be a Gryphon than in the moments when we show up for each other.
With gratitude,
Erin Kekos
Principal, North Star Academy

Supporting One of Our Own
One of our 5th grade families experienced a devastating apartment fire last Friday.
We are grateful to share that the family is safe and has been temporarily relocated. Unfortunately, their home sustained significant damage, and they lost all of their belongings in the fire.
In response, we are coordinating a gift card drive to support the family during this difficult time.
What You Can Do to Help
- Families who wish to contribute may donate retail gift cards. At the family’s request, Target, Costco, and Walmart are preferred, but any and all contributions are deeply appreciated.
- Simply drop off your donation in the NSA office by Friday, February 13.
We appreciate the kindness and generosity of our community as we come together to support one of our own. Thank you for your care and support.

There's Still Room on the Team!
What: Soccer and Flag Football teams
When: Register by 2/11 for Soccer and 2/25 for Flag Football
__________
Soccer
There are still spots open for both boys and girls soccer teams at all grade levels. We are also in need of coaches! This is a great opportunity for students to jump in, get more playing time, and be part of a tight-knit team that grows together over the season.
If you’ve been on the fence about joining or coaching, this is the moment. With a few more players and committed coaches, these teams are going to have a fantastic season.

Girls Flag Football
Another round of middle school girls flag football is quickly approaching and we need players and coaches!
This is a fast-growing, non-contact sport that builds confidence, teamwork, and athletic skills in a fun, supportive environment for 6th -8th grade girls. Players learn the fundamentals of football, including passing, catching, running routes, and strategy. This is without tackling, making it accessible for both beginners and experienced athletes.
