Hello FamiLEE,

Thank you for another great week! Thank you for making sure you turn in attendance excuses daily. We are working hard to reach our goal of at least a 95% attendance rate this year.

We need your help! Please remind your child about the dress code and cell phone expectations. These will be enforced. Additionally, please make sure you are checking PowerSchool weekly. We want to ensure our scholars are successful all school year.

Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Kitrise Torain

LHS Principal

• Shout-out to our Freshmen of the Week from this week! Lyric Smith comes to us from Chapman Middle. She is interested in playing tennis and softball here at Lee High. In her spare time, she enjoys playing video games and watching television. When she graduates from high school she would like to go to college, but stay close to home. Her favorite teacher at Lee is Ms. Smith because she is a chill teacher. Kaden Leggitte comes to us from Williams Middle. Here at Lee he is involved in the orchestra magnet and plays the tuba in the marching band. In his spare time he likes to go to the gym and play basketball or workout. When he graduates from high school he would like to attend college and major in engineering. His favorite teacher at Lee is Mr. Pearson because he’s funny. Congratulations to both of them for representing our FamiLEE values so well!
• Shout-out to our very own teacher Mr. Matzkind for being selected as the WHNT News 19 Educator Honor Roll Teacher of the Week! Read all about Mr. Matzkind at this link: https://whnt.com/.../educator-honor-roll-kurtis-matzkind.../

• Shout-out to the over 100 juniors and seniors from Lee High School participating in fall dual enrollment classes at Alabama A&M University! Our students will be taking college level English Composition, US History, Government, Biology, and Psychology this semester! We are thankful for the partnership between Huntsville City Schools & Alabama A&M!

Lee High Performing Arts Magnet is honored to be hosting Huntsville native and Broadway actress Katie Broad for a workshop and talkback session. This opportunity will take place at the Lee High School auditorium on August 19 from 4-5:30PM.
