Message from the Head of School Message from the Head of School

Dear Parents and Carers,

What an exciting week we have had here at HISN! Year 2 have been completing their visits to ‘Hampton Library’ to promote their love of reading; they have enjoyed listening to stories read by the librarians within our local community.

HPPA - Christmas Fair- Saturday 29th November- 11:30-3pm

HPPA have been incredibly busy with organising our annual ‘Christmas Fair’ which is hosted at Hampton Infant School and Nursery. There will be a range of stalls with a raffle (see more details below) alongside our ever-popular bottle tombola! We look forward to welcoming the children, parents and our local community this Saturday. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the HPPA team for their continued support and hard work to raise money for ‘Hampton Primary Partnership.’

Illness at school

As we enter into the winter season, there are certainly a lot more coughs and colds. Within school, our HISN staff are being extra vigilant about washing hands and ensuring the classrooms are well ventilated. Please could we ask that your children also continue to wash their hands regularly at home as well.

If your child is unwell please refer to the NHS guidelines below and contact the school office to notify us of their absence. Please do not send your child to school until they are better. If your child becomes unwell at school we will call parent/carers to notify them and ask that the child be collected and kept at home until well enough for school. Calpol cannot be administered routinely and will only be administered in specific circumstances.

Communication

We will be making some positive improvements in the coming months. In the meantime we request that parents ensure that they are using the Arbor App to its full potential. Communication is sent to parents as an email via Arbor, we also use the in-app messaging for brief alerts and reminders. Please ensure that you have allowed notifications in the Arbor App so you do not miss these important messages.

I hope you have an enjoyable weekend when it arrives and I look forward to seeing many of you this Saturday at our HPPA Christmas Fair thank you for all the kind donations of bottles and toys.

We look forward to sharing our news for next week including out visit from Munira Wilson as part of Parliament Week, Year 1 and 2 Church visits and our ‘HPPA Christmas Shopping’ event for the children!

HPP Inclusion Coffee Afternoon HPP Inclusion Coffee Afternoon

Wednesday 3rd December at 2.15pm in the Honeycomb at HJS

The Inclusion team will be hosting a coffee afternoon. This will be an opportunity to meet the Inclusion Team as well as other parents and carers. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available.

Although the coffee afternoon is at HJS, we welcome parents from across the partnership and are keen to meet as many parents as possible. There is no agenda for the first meeting this year, just an opportunity to meet up. If you have any requests for any particular support, please let us know as we try to arrange for other professionals and/or visitors to join our meetings throughout the year.

The Inclusion Team:

  • Lisa Maxted - HPP Inclusion Lead
  • Chloe Hughes - HISN SEND Lead Teacher
  • Gemma Delaney - HJS SEND Lead Teacher
  • Karen Finnegan - HPP Parent Support Advisor

Due to changes in the Ofsted framework and the anticipated release of the SEND White Paper next year, we are also looking for some parent representatives. As a parent representative for inclusion, you would represent parents and the school as we strive to enhance our inclusive provision for children and you would be another point of contact for parents. If you would be interested in this new role, which we would be looking to launch in the Spring term, please come along to the meeting and let us know. We would be keen to have parents representing HISN and HJS.

Winter

Year 1 Year 1

There are lots of exciting things happening at HISN this half term. Last week, year 1 went on a walk around Hampton to carry out some simple fieldwork in our local area. We identified different features that helped us decide if Hampton was a rural or urban area, and discussed whether these were human or physical features. We also looked at the symbols used on maps, discussing what these mean and how we use them in a ‘key’. We then practised identifying these using our map reading skills with our friends in class. We would like to give a big shout out to those of you who kindly gave up your time to accompany us on this walk. It was a bitter cold day and we are incredibly grateful, as without your support we wouldn’t be able to carry out these activities, so a huge ‘thank you’ from us all in year 1.

We have been incredibly lucky to have an author come and visit us in school and share her story with us. Charissa Coulthard read her book ‘Super Me’ and we asked lots of questions about the story and her job as an author. She was incredibly patient and kind, gifting us lots of books afterwards to share in class. Thank you, Charissa!

We have an exciting visitor to look forward to this week, with the MP Munira Wilson coming in to visit us all at HPP. We have lots of questions at the ready for her and look forward to showing her around HPP and hearing what it’s like to be a Member of Parliament.

Year 1 are gearing up for Christmas and getting ready for this year’s production of The Nativity. We are learning lots of nativity-based songs and creating actions and dances to go along with the words. We would love it if you could help us to practise these at home, and we are very excited for you to come and see us perform it on stage too!

Next week, we continue on the Christmas theme as year 1 head off to All Saints Church. We are looking forward to learning about Christianity and why Christmas is an important time of the year for Christians. We will be taking part in a treasure hunt, looking at the different features of a church, completing a craft activity, as well as listening to the church bell chime. Thank you in advance to those of you who have volunteered to accompany us on this visit. We look forward to sharing photos of the day with you all.

Year 1 Brooklands Museum Visit

As part of our History topic of ‘Travel and Transport’, Year 1 will be visiting Brooklands Museum on Friday 8th May 2026.

We rely on parental contributions in order to be able to run the wide variety of visits and workshops that the pupils at HPP enjoy and the contribution we are requesting on this occasion, for each pupil, is £26.50. This includes coach hire, entrance fee, and the ‘Concorde Experience’. Whilst payment of this trip is voluntary, if we do not receive sufficient contributions, we will cancel the visit and a full refund will be made.

In order to support families with making this payment we are offering payment instalments. You can make payments, via Arbor, as frequently as you wish between now and Friday 27th February 2026. If you feel that you are unable to make this contribution and require support with this visit, please contact the school office to arrange a meeting to speak to Mrs Gale, Head of School.
