April 2026
Message from Principals
April is here and the fourth quarter has begun! Report cards went home on Monday, and we will celebrate our students at our third quarter awards assembly on Wednesday, April 15th. We look forward to recognizing our students for their hard work during the third nine weeks! We will have a STEAM family night from 5:30pm-6:30pm on Monday, April 6th and all families are invited to attend! We will also have our 2nd grade ecosystem showcase that same night from 5pm-6pm. Our kindergarteners will take two field trips this month and our first graders will have their music program on Thursday, April 23rd at 6pm. We will begin end of year ATLAS testing this month with our K-2nd graders taking literacy and math tests and our 3rd-5th graders taking reading, writing, math, and science tests. Our last day of Mallard University will be on Thursday, April 23rd and Friday, April 24th will be our Donuts with Grown-Ups event. We are so thankful for our students and families and look forward to another great month at Monitor!

STEAM Family Night

End of Year ATLAS Testing
We will be starting our end of year ATLAS testing this month. K-2nd grade students will take literacy and math tests, and 3rd-5th grade students will take reading, writing, math, and science tests. These tests measure student progress toward mastery of grade level standards. Please see the calendar for grade specific testing dates and encourage your child to do his/her best! To prepare for testing, please make sure your child goes to bed early the night before testing, arrives to school at 7:45am each day of testing, and has a positive start to their day. We look forward to our mallards being able to show all they have learned this year!
Donuts with Grown-Ups
Each student is invited to bring a special grown up to breakfast on Friday, April 24th from 7:15am-7:45am. We will have a donut and coffee for the grown up and students will get a breakfast from the cafeteria. Due to limited space, please limit to one grown up per student and RSVP using the link below. Adults who RSVP and who have checked in using our raptor system this school year will have a visitor's badge pre-printed for quicker check-in upon arrival. Please bring your ID with you at check-in. // Donuts with Grown-Ups RSVP
Teacher Appreciation Week
Teacher appreciation week is May 4th-8th, and we look forward to spoiling our teachers all week! If you would like to contribute to helping make this a special week for our teachers, you can send donations via Venmo to @MonitorBoosterClub with a note that says "Teacher Appreciation Week" so we know how to direct the funds. We appreciate your support in helping us show our teachers how much we appreciate them!
Monitor Career Day
Career day is coming up soon! If you are interested in sharing information to students about your job with our students, please contact Mrs. Engelmann {our school counselor} at (479) 750-8749 or sengelmann@sdale.org. We need you and would love to have you!

Dress Code Reminders
As the weather is changing and students are growing, please be mindful of the following school dress code items:
- Distressed jeans should not have holes or rips above fingertip length.
- Shirts should be long enough so the midriff is not showing.
- Pajama pants should be worn on pajama days only.
If you need any help with clothing for your child, please contact the school and connect with our school social worker, Reina Hart.
Student Check In & Check Out Procedures
The school day begins at 7:45am. Students who arrive after 7:45am should be checked in by an adult in the front office. If you need to change the way your child is going home, please contact your child's teacher or call the office by 2pm. Also, please note that if you are checking out your student, students will not be called to the office until a parent is in the office to pick them up so students are in class for instruction for as long as possible.
