Notes from Dr. West
What a great first nine weeks of our school year. We are rocking and rolling every day growing kids to be the best versions of themselves and to be ready for whatever the future brings them. Of course we have had some hiccups along the way, but it has been great partnering with you the parents and guardians to solve any issue that we have faced. Thank you all for your continued support and partnership.
This week we will have a half day on Wednesday so that our teachers can prepare for Parent/Teacher Conferences on Friday. We are hosting a Monster Mash/Tiger Bash, Wednesday afternoon for any child in our school community. It will be another opportunity to wear your favorite book character costumes, play some games and endulge in a few sweet treats. We hope to see you from 3-5pm.
On Friday there is no school for students as we will have our Parent/Teacher Conferences. Please make every effort to meet with your childs teachers to check on how they are doing and how you can continue to support their educational path. Please bring your child too as it is always better when they are a part of the conversation. We hope to see you Friday!
With Tiger Pride,
Adam West Ed.D.

Growing Great Learners: Every Day Counts, Every Page Matters!
October Focus: Building Strong Readers at Home As we continue through the school year, we want to thank our families for making daily school attendance a priority. Each day in the classroom provides valuable opportunities for students to build upon previously learned skills, engage in meaningful instruction, and strengthen relationships with their teachers and classmates. When students miss school, they miss learning experiences that can be difficult to replace. Consistent, on-time attendance helps children stay connected to their learning and develop the confidence they need to succeed. We appreciate your continued partnership in making every school day count! This month, we also want to encourage families to make reading a part of everyday life! Reading doesn’t have to happen only with a book at bedtime. Opportunities to build literacy skills are all around us! Invite your child to help read grocery lists, recipes, directions, street signs, birthday cards, or even menus when dining out. These everyday experiences help children understand that reading is a valuable skill we use for many purposes. We encourage families to read to children, read with children, and encourage children to read independently as their skills develop. When adults read aloud, children hear examples of fluent, expressive reading while developing vocabulary and listening comprehension. Take time to talk about what you’re reading together. Ask questions, discuss characters and events, make predictions, and encourage your child to share their thoughts and opinions. These meaningful conversations help strengthen comprehension and critical-thinking skills. Creating a literacy-rich environment at home is another wonderful way to nurture a love of reading. Provide access to books, magazines, and other reading materials that reflect your child’s interests, spark curiosity, or introduce new topics to explore. We also encourage families to provide children with a balanced exposure to both literary and informational texts. In addition to stories, poems, and novels, invite your child to read science and social studies materials, including texts about earth science, physical science, communities, cultures, and civilizations. Informational reading helps children build background knowledge, learn new vocabulary, understand the world around them, and develop the skills needed to gather and apply information. We strongly encourage families to make visits to their local public library a regular family activity. Libraries offer wonderful opportunities for children to discover new books, explore their interests, and develop a lifelong appreciation for reading. Remember, building strong readers doesn’t require expensive materials or lengthy lessons. Small, consistent reading experiences, a variety of text types, and meaningful conversations can make a lasting difference. Together, let’s make every school day count and every day an opportunity to grow as readers. Go Tigers!
Importance of Attendance
The Importance of Attendance 🐯 Every school day is an opportunity for our Tigers to learn, grow, build friendships, and connect with teachers and classmates. Thank you to our families for making attendance a priority! Regular, on-time attendance helps students build essential academic skills, keep up with classroom learning, and develop a strong sense of belonging. We understand that illness and unexpected circumstances sometimes make absences unavoidable, but every day in school makes a difference. Please continue prioritizing daily attendance and communicating with us when challenges arise. Together, we can help every Tiger thrive! Thank you for your continued partnership and support.

Drop Off Times
At Lincoln School we open doors at 8:00am so that all kids have time to drop off their backpacks at their locker, grab and eat breakfast and get ready for instruction to start at 8:30am. We strongly encourage all students to be here by 8:00am to make sure they can accomplish all of these tasks before they start learning.
