A Message From Mrs. Petersen: A Message From Mrs. Petersen:

Hello Farmington Families,

And just like that, another school year is coming to an end. We are so grateful that you’ve entrusted us with your children—thank you for allowing us to be part of their learning and growth. Thank you for engaging in our family events and for being such an important part of the Farmington Elementary community. Your support truly means the world to us.

I hope this school year offered your child chances to feel both challenged and successful, and that they gained not only academic knowledge but also social skills—like what it means to be a kind and supportive friend. Please keep the learning going over the summer: read a book together, explore the outdoors and talk about what you see, enjoy music and discover its rhythm, and most importantly, make memories that will last.

To our fifth grade families, we send our best wishes as your children move on to middle school. This class has been filled with joy, creativity, and compassion—a truly wonderful mix. We can’t wait to see all they’ll achieve in the years ahead.

Take Care,

Angie Petersen

During the morning of Tuesday, June 3rd, students visit next year's grade level to learn more about the classrooms, teachers and curriculum.

FES Fun Day

Students will spend half of their day outside visiting a variety of fun stations and activities. The other half of the day is a movie day with popcorn provided by the PTO.

A cookout lunch adds a special fun to the day! Students may choose to bring a towel to sit on when they eat their lunch (weather permitting, we eat outside on the grass).

Staff can not apply sunscreen to students.

5th Grade Promotion

At 1:30, the 5th Grade Promotion will begin in the FES Gym. Parking will be available in staff, and visitor lots as well as both loops (bus and pick up/drop off). Reminder: Before and After School Care at FES Reminder: Before and After School Care at FES

Is your family in need of before or after school care for next school year? If so, please complete this form: Washington County Before and After School Programs 2025/2026 – Kettle Moraine YMCA

We are so excited to partner with the YMCA for another year of great care right in our building. We are hopeful we can get an after-school care program up and running again as long as the number of kids needing care meets the Y's criteria.

Reminder: Current 5th Graders: District Password Change Reminder: Current 5th Graders: District Password Change

Information from the KSD IT department:

Keeping our passwords private and our accounts secure is of utmost importance to us. Therefore, all current 5th grade and 8th grade student passwords will be changing on July 7th. This change is necessary as 6th grade and 9th grade students have increased password security requirements.

In late June, an email will be sent out to student email accounts containing their new password. We kindly ask that you remind your child to write it down in a safe place for future reference. Once the password changes are made, your child will not be able to use their current password to access their accounts.

From Our PTO: From Our PTO:

🌞The PTO is very excited for our Bounce Into Summer event on Friday, May 30th from 6-8pm. This is a completely free event! There will be bounce houses, mini golf, disc golf and popcorn! Students must be accompanied by an adult for the entire event. Please help our volunteers by keeping an eye on your children while they are doing activities.

😎Farmington Fun Day is right around the corner! Please consider volunteering if you are able! Details are included on the Sign Up Genius Link.

New Well Construction New Well Construction

It's time to start digging! Beginning next week, drilling for our new well should be started. You'll notice a temporary fence has been placed at the playground entrance where we have overflow parking for events. That parking will be unavailable (5th Grade Promotion, Fun Day) from now until fall. The playground will also be off limits during June and July to allow for construction to be completed.

Routines and Procedures Routines and Procedures

Student Absences Student Absences

Is your child too sick to come to school? Does your child have a medical appointment? Are you taking a planned vacation? We want your child to be at school as much as possible, but we know that things come up. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Parents have up to 10 days each year to call your child in absent to school, and be considered excused days.
  • If you know your child will be out of school, please let us know as soon as possible.
  • If your child has a medical or dental appointment, ask for a school excuse after the appointment and have your child bring it to school as soon as possible. If we have the written medical excuse, the absence doesn't count towards the 10 parentally excused days.
  • We have automated letters that are sent out at 5 days absent and 10 days absent. If you think you've received a letter in error-please reach out to Mrs. Petersen or Mrs. Seiser.
  • If your child has over 10 days of absence during the school year, Mrs. Petersen will be in contact to set up a time to talk about what we can do to positively impact your child's attendance.

School Day Times

Our school day begins at 8:55 and ends at 3:45. Our building doors will be open to students at 8:45am. At the end of the day students will begin to be released to the busses and adults who pick up at 3:40pm.

Volunteering

Any time adults volunteer to work with our students, whether in the building or on a field trip, we must have a completed background check. To complete the background check, please click on this link: ADULT APPLICATION

For future reference, you can find the link on our webpage: kewaskumschools.org >parents>volunteer>ADULT APPLICATION

Pick-Up and Drop Off Routines Pick-Up and Drop Off Routines

Each family has been assigned a number to help with the efficiency of pick-ups. Cards will be handed out to most families at Open House with the student's last name and the family number on the card. If you need another card, please contact Mrs. Seiser. You can replicate the information on your own piece of paper, making sure the number and last name are large enough to be visible from 5 to 6 feet from your vehicle.

When you're in the vehicle line, please pull as far forward as possible-this allows us to get more vehicles off of the road.

If you will be dropping off your child(ren) for school, please enter the pick-up/drop-off loop, and stay in the right lane. The first vehicle in the line should pull up to the end of the sidewalk. All students should stay in the vehicles they arrive in until the building doors open at 8:45. The playground will not be available for use before school.

If you will be picking up your child(ren) at the end of the day, please park in the right lane of the Pick Up/Drop Off area. stay in your vehicle, and have your card visible. The first car in the line should park at the end of the sidewalk on the right hand side. A staff member will come out read the cards, and send that information into the building. Next, those students will come out, load their cars, and a group of cars will be waved to leave. Then, all cars will pull as far forward as they can, and we will repeat the process. If everyone follows the same protocols the line will be efficient and most importantly, it will be a safe way to dismiss all students. Students will begin to be dismissed to vehicles at 3:40.

So, what can you do if you arrive and the pick up/drop off loop is full during pick-up at the end of the day?

  • You could choose to park in the visitor's lot and walk to the front door with your family number to pick up your child.
  • You could choose to drive around the block and come back at a later time.
  • You could choose to plan to come to pick up your child anytime after 3:46 (by this time our first two sections of vehicles have been dismissed and there typically is no longer a line).
  • You could choose to wait on the road-again, we are hoping vehicles only wait on the east shoulder of the road, (the side closest to the building) to create more space for traveling vehicles on the road.

**These routines may change during the year if we find the current procedures do not fit our school needs. Any changes will be communicated to you through a newsletter/Skyward message.**

Bussing Bussing

If you have a child entering our 4k program, and would like that child to take our shuttle bus that takes students that arrive at FES to KES in the morning, please contact the Johnson Bus company for more information.

If you have any other bussing questions or requests, or if your bussing needs have changed, please contact the Terminal Manager: Lori Heisler at lheisler@johnsonschoolbus.com or (262) 626-4414.

Breakfast Breakfast

As it was last year, breakfast is offered for purchase each school day. If you do not want your child to have the option to purchase breakfast, please let our building secretary, Mrs. Seiser know through email or a phone call. We recommend that you check in on your e-funds balance from time to time to stay aware of any charges that are being made to your account.
