📰 Headline of the Week
Outdoor Season Starts with a Home-Opening Bang!
Although the weather took out our first invitational this past Saturday, the Richmond track and field team opened its season at home against Connersville and Seton. The boys won handily, while the girls fell short against Connersville by just a spare couple of points. Some highlights include a very strong showing from our sprinting department, dominance in the boys throws, and a fun sweep in the 3200 meter run.
One area of focus for us as a team is taking responsibility for the things that are important to us, such as our home meets. We owe Connersville a debt of gratitude for their help with the 300 hurdles and both teams a thank-you for their patience in a very cold meet.
This week, the weather will be cold! Bundle up! This is our only week without a meet, so it's critically important that we get a really strong week of practices in!

👟 Meet the Coach - Hunter Lambright
Hunter Lambright - Distance, Middle-Distance
Hunter Lambright returns to the track program in his third consecutive year as head coach (fourth total) as the middle-distance and distance coach. He teachers math and psychology at Richmond High School.
What do you love about coaching?
Coaching is about helping a kid become the best athlete they can be in this moment. Track and field is special because the most important competition a kid has is with themselves. Pushing to get better every day is something that I want every one of our athletes to take with them when they eventually graduate and leave this program.
What are your hopes for this season?
The North Central Conference title is one thing on my list that we haven't been able to accomplish yet, and I have high hopes for this year. I'm also hoping to see some of our athletes compete at the Nationals level again this summer.
Fun fact about yourself?
Despite growing up a Centerville Bulldog, over the past ten years here it's clear that my veins run with Richmond red!
👣 Foot Notes
Attendance Policy
Track athletes are expected to be at practice Monday through Friday each week. Athletes should be communicating with their jobs about their schedule changes. A full schedule of track meets will be made available as soon as possible. If an athlete cannot make it to practice, communication is required. An athlete will receive three excused absences, after which they will meet with a coach about their attendance and further action will be determined. Parents and athletes can reach out to Coach Lambright via the Google Voice number (765) 205-2647.
Meet Schedule
We are no longer looking for a meet on April 12th and do not expect the Union City 4-way that they were trying to put together to happen.
ParentSquare is our Official Contact Method
All parent contact should come through ParentSquare. If you are not on the ParentSquare feed for RHS track and field, please reach out to Coach Lambright at your earliest convenience. We will no longer be using Remind as Richmond Community Schools has moved to streamline parent communication and help parents not have ten different apps on their phones.
SportsYou Will Function as an Information Hub
While we would love to live in a world where we assume everyone will see all of our messages, we will continue to post workout plans and calendar events on SportsYou, something the cross country athletes and parents will be familiar with. You can join using the QR code on this paragraph, or by going to SportsYou.com and entering the code QYH8-WB4S. This will serve as a backup, always present information center, but all information on there will be duplicated here. The goal is to have one app that is always up to date, even when the next newsletter is a few days away.
