Busy Bees at RVS Busy Bees at RVS

Hello, RVS families!

Despite the weather that keeps trying to make it tough to get here, students have been hard at work across the building. This week, I was lucky to see:

  • Third and fourth grade students engaged in the writing process: conferencing with their teacher to make needed updates to their storylines, double checking spelling and grammar, and even making some good attempts to write in cursive! It is wonderful to see the creativity that went into many of these stories, and to hear how much students now know about the elements of mythology. We can't wait to see the finished products!
  • "Once upon a time", first and second grade students were thinking creatively about fairy tales: from writing and illustrating their own stories to completing STEAM challenges related to these timeless tales, Mrs. D's class has been busy huffing, puffing, and working on their literacy skills.
  • In kindergarten, students have been hard at work counting up to and past 100, both by ones and tens. Many students were also very excited to share their personal "Wild Things" masks they created after reading the classic story.
  • In specials, Mr. Chandler is getting ready to take students out ice skating this week! We are so glad the rink is ready and look forward to enjoying the winter weather together. In music, Mr. Owens' oldest class attracted dancers across the school once they heard how much progress these students have made on their recorders.
