A Note From the Director/Principal:

LSP Families,

October is a busy month at Little Spartans Preschool! Be sure to read the newsletter carefully and reach out with any questions you may have.

Recess/Outdoor Learning

The weather is changing and the mornings are becoming very cool. Please be sure to send students to school with layers. We will be going outside for recess and/or outdoor learning as long as the temperature is above freezing.

Firetruck/Fireman Day

All Little Spartans will get to meet a fireman and see a firetruck with firefighters on Tuesday, October 3rd. A huge THANK YOU goes out to the Connersville Fire Department for your support!

Head Start- Field Trip

Head Start students will be going on a field trip to the Indianapolis Zoo on October 4th and 5th. Head Start families will be receiving more information about the trip from your child's teacher. Just a reminder that there will be no am bus pick up on field trip days.

Picture Day

School picture day is Tuesday, October 10th. Pictures can be ordered at https://inter-state.com/flyerentry/78415E

Teacher Professional Development/Conferences

Friday, October 6th and Wednesday, October 11th are professional development/conference days for teachers. No students will be in attendance. If you haven't scheduled a conference with your child's teacher yet, please reach out to them by calling the school or messaging on ClassDojo.

Head Start-No School

There will be no Head Start classes on October 6th, 11th, or 13th. In addition, there will be no 1/2 day Head Start classes on October 12th. These dates were preciously scheduled off dates on the calendar given at registration.

Head Start- Parent Meeting

Head Start classrooms will have parent meetings on Tuesday, October 17th @5:00-6:00p.m. The focus will be on Dental Health. Dr. Laura from Christie Family Dentistry will be speaking. Zoo Boo will begin directly following Dr. Laura's presentation.

Zoo Boo

LSP is so excited to host our first annual Zoo Boo on Tuesday, October 17th @6:00-7:00pm. Please no masks, fake weapons, or scary costumes. LSP staff is working hard to decorate for the event. Many many many THANKS to all community members who have sponsored the event in some way!

Fall Break

Fall Break will take place October 23-27. There will not be anyone in the office to answer or return phone calls this week.

Safety, Safety, Safety

Don't be alarmed if you notice police presence at LSP! The Connersville Police Department and the Fayette County Sherriff's Department regularly visit to make sure our students and staff are safe. If there ever is an emergency, families will be notified via Powerschool Messenger, ClassDojo, and Social Media (Facebook/Twitter). If your phone number changes for any reason, please notify the office so we can update our system!

Little Spartans Preschool regularly practice emergency drills! In October, we will have a fire drill and a lockdown drill. Families are notified on ClassDojo after drills have taken place. This is a great time to talk about the importance of being safe with your child!

Bookmobile/Fayette County Public Library

This year we have partnered with the Fayette County Public Library. The bookmobile will be visiting LSP two times each month after Fall Break. The Fayette County Public Library will also be reading and doing crafts with our classrooms......Did you know Fayette County Public Library has family events? Be sure to check out their calendar HERE.

Front Door Security

Safety is always our number one priority! In order to keep our front lobby more secure, the front doors will ONLY be unlocked from 7:50-8:15a.m. A buzzer/intercom system has been installed on the right hand side of the front doors. If the front doors are locked, just push the green button and someone from the office will be right with you. The left door will then be unlocked so you can enter the lobby.

Safety Protocol

Sick Procedure

Contagious rashes and other cold like symptoms are in peak season. LSP is working diligently to make sure extra sanitation and safety precautions are taking place. Please review the sick procedure below. If you have any questions, please give us a call.

School Bus Stop Arm

In Indiana, it's illegal for drivers to pass a stopped school bus that has its red lights flashing and stop-arm extended. Violators are not only putting a child's safety at risk, but they will also receive a fine. School buses are equipped with technology to track offenders. Please help us keep our children safe by stopping for school buses!

Arrival/Dismissal Procedures (Title/Dev.)

Title (Turquoise Tag)/Developmental Preschool (Green Tag)

If your child is a car rider, arrival and dismissal will be a car line procedure in the back of the building on Conwell. To enter the car line, you must follow 17th St. and turn LEFT on East Street, follow it around the curve (turns into Fairmont Street) and then turn LEFT on Conwell. Your passenger side door should be parallel to the sidewalk. We will dismiss car by car at the gate (look for the orange cones), so please pull up to the spot directly next to the cones when it’s your turn. Please remain in your car, and a staff member will help escort your child into the building and then back to the car at dismissal. You will be provided a tag for your mirror that MUST be displayed.

Mid-Day DROP OFF

If you are DROPPING OFF your child for the PM session, please FLIP your tag backwards. This allows staff to dismiss children from the AM session more efficiently.

*AM drop off will begin at 7:50a.m. Gates will close at 8:00a.m., unless there are cars in line. PM drop off will begin at 11:20a.m. Gates will close at about 11:40a.m., unless there are cars in line. We ask all adults to stay in their vehicles during pick-up/drop-off. We will get students out of the car and put them back in. If your child is unable to fasten their carseat/booster straps after they are loaded, then we ask you to pull up ahead of car line before getting out to fasten.*

Head Start (Blue Tag)

You will be provided a tag for your mirror that MUST be displayed. *DO NOT BLOCK ALLEY WITH CAR LINE. IT IS A BUS ROUTE.*
