REMINDERS AND UPDATES FROM MRS. WOODALL REMINDERS AND UPDATES FROM MRS. WOODALL

I hope all of our learners enjoyed the day off today and were able to sleep in. I'm sure parents appreciated the break from our traffic!

Every year STEM academies in Mansfield ISD participate in Fall Presentations of Learning (POLs). POLs are a tradition in MISD STEM and are an opportunity for learners to showcase to their families their “glows”, what they’ve accomplished, and their “grows”, goals they have yet to achieve. POLs also give learners the opportunity to develop their public speaking and presentation skills to a “friendly” audience before they are expected to engage in presentations to community partners. In addition to becoming effective communicators, they will get the opportunity to develop future ready skills such as use of technology, celebrating successes, receiving feedback, being reflective and determining next steps for growth. All of these skills will serve our learners well in college, career, and life.

It is a requirement that every STEM learner has a POL and they will spend the next few weeks preparing for these. During the POL, families will be given a “Look For’s” sheet to help guide them through this process. Both the learner and parent must be present for the 10-minute presentation. Please make sure to sign up for a time to attend your learner’s POL if your learner is in grades 9th - 10th grade here. There are times available on October 8th from 3:30 - 7:30 p.m. or October 9th from 7:00 - 11:00 a.m.

If you have a Junior or Senior, they are not required to attend the P.O.L. Instead, they will have to present at the Learner Showcase (April 27th) or the Capstone Banquet (May 4th – Seminar and Research learners only).

Mansfield ISD College Day of Testing – October 14, 2026

Mansfield ISD will host its annual College Day of Testing on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. This day provides high school students with valuable opportunities to take college readiness and career assessments, explore postsecondary options, and participate in activities that support their plans.

  • Ninth graders will take the TSIA. Please complete this form by October 4, 2026, to let us know if you plan to purchase a sack lunch on testing day. Ordered lunches will be delivered to learners at approximately 11:00 and will be a fruit cup and cheese pizza. Learners may also bring their lunch from home, but they will not have access to the microwaves due to campus-wide testing.

  • Ninth graders who require accommodated testing may test on a future date.

  • Sophomores & Juniors will take the PSAT/NSMQT. Please complete this form by October 4, 2026, to let us know if you plan to purchase a sack lunch on testing day. Ordered lunches will be delivered to learners at approximately 10:15 and will be a fruit cup and cheese pizza. Learners may also bring their lunch from home, but they will not have access to the microwaves due to campus-wide testing.

  • Please look for communication from Mr. Williams as to what options our Seniors have on this day.

We encourage all learners to take advantage of this opportunity to advance their college, career, and military readiness goals. Thank you for supporting your learner as they prepare for this important day.
