Crossroads Learning Environment Forms--Due March 13 Crossroads Learning Environment Forms--Due March 13

It's the time of the year to acquaint you with the procedures we will use for determining classroom assignments for the 2026-2027 school year. Our ultimate goal is to place each child in an environment that is comfortable and conducive to the growth of the individual student. Much consideration is given to appropriately match learning styles and personalities of students and teachers. Of equal importance is designing a classroom in which the children will positively influence each other. A student’s current teacher may list particular needs related to the child’s learning style and the characteristics of the learning environment that would best meet the needs of the child. However, the teacher will not recommend a particular teacher. Their input is valuable and will be taken with great regard.

The administrative team will collect needed information prior to making placement decisions. The placement process is highly reflective and focuses on the needs of all children. Parents are invited to share views regarding their child’s needs, learning styles, and the characteristics of the teacher that would best meet the needs of their child. If a parent wishes to express their views regarding their child’s needs, this should be addressed in writing by completing the Learning Environment Form. Please do not designate a specific teacher name. The Learning Environment Form is included as an attachment in the newsletter email and forms can also be found in the office.

Please return your form by March 13, in order for your input to be considered for placement. If you have any questions, please reach out. Thank you!

Message From Nurse Teresa Message From Nurse Teresa

Hello!

Thank you for your partnership in helping stop the spread of germs by keeping your sick kids home. We’re nearing the end of peak cold and flu season. Please continue to follow the guidelines below if your student is sick:

  1. PLEASE keep your kids home if they are sick! If your student has vomited or had diarrhea or a fever within the past 24 hours, HE/SHE SHOULD STAY HOME, as he/she is still contagious.

  2. If your child has vomited, he/she should be tolerating food before returning, as well.

  3. If your child requires medicine to treat symptoms of illness (i.e. elevated temperature or stomach ache) before school, he/she should stay home for monitoring. If your student feels sick or gets sick before school, please keep him/her home.

  4. If your child is sent home for a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea, he/she should stay home until symptom-free for 24 hours, without the use of medication.

  5. Please help remind your kids to practice good hand hygiene and cough etiquette.

  6. Encourage healthy habits: eat healthy foods, get plenty of sleep, drink lots of water.

Please send a water bottle to school with your child; this can help them if they have a cough, too.

Dental Visits This Semester

PSP came to CRE on 2/26/26 and provided fluoride applications for students whose parents signed consent forms at the beginning of the year.

Big Smiles - Scheduled to come to CRE 3/30 - 4/1 to provide dental cleanings and treatment for students whose parents signed consent forms at the beginning of the year. As a reminder, parent consent is good for 18 mos, so a new form does NOT need to be completed if you already completed one this year.

If your student started school at Crossroads after the dentist came the first semester, I will give your student’s teacher a permission form for you to sign and return to school if you want your student to participate in this optional service. Please turn these forms in no later than 3-23-26. Please reach out if you have any questions.

Clothing Donations Needed

The clinic is always looking for gently used boys' and girls' items, especially pants. If you have any items lying around your house that you’d like to donate, we’d happily take them off your hands. Thank you in advance! It’s also a good idea to send a change of clothes in your student’s backpack for them to use in case they need it during school. The clinic has a limited supply to loan out. If your students have borrowed clothes and can return them for other students to borrow, that would be much appreciated.

Thank you!

2026-27 PreK Enrollment Opens:

Feb. 9-13: Currently enrolled and returning Pre-K families and WSD employees.

Feb. 23: All Wentzville School District residents.

To enroll in our tuition-based preschool program, students must be 3 years old by July 31 of the year they are starting preschool.

In past years, families could choose their Early Childhood location. This year, your child’s Early Childhood site will be determined by your home address. Your address falls within an elementary school attendance boundary, and that boundary determines which Early Childhood location your child will attend. If you are unsure which elementary school serves your address, you can find it using the District’s interactive boundary map.

Early Childhood Locations by Elementary School Boundary:

Barfield: Boone Trail, Crossroads, Discovery Ridge, Duello, Green Tree, Prairie View

Samuelson: Heritage, Journey, Lake View, Peine Ridge, Stone Creek, Wabash

For more information or to register, please visit the District enrollment webpage.

Morning Drop-Off Procedures

  • Drop-off is from 8:20 a.m. to 8:35 a.m. Doors close promptly at 8:35 a.m. If you arrive after this time, please bring your student to the front office to sign them in.

  • To keep the line moving efficiently, we ask that drivers remain in their vehicles while staff assist students.

  • Walkers may enter through the front or primary hallway entrances. All parents and visitors must enter through the front doors and sign in at the office.

  • If you need to bring your child into the building, please use the main parking lot. Parking in the diagonal bus zone slots is strictly prohibited.

Afternoon Pick-Up Procedures

All car riders and daycare van riders will go to the gym at the end of the day. Once in the gym, a staff member will call students’ names over the radio for them to come out to meet their vehicle. A staff member will escort students to each car.

Important: Parents are no longer allowed to walk up to pick up their children. Please use the car pick-up line.

Bright blue car tags will be distributed at Meet-the-Teacher Night. If you are unable to attend, tags will be sent home with students on the first day of school. Please check with the office if you need a car tag. USE A THICK MARKER TO FILL THESE OUT.

When driving through the car lanes, please display the bright blue car tag on your dashboard where names can be easily seen. If you do not have a car tag, staff will need to check your ID, contact the office for clearance, and then call your child. This process slows down pick-up for everyone.

A few additional reminders:

  • Dismissal changes will not be accepted after 3:00 p.m.

  • Student safety is our top priority. Because 3:20 p.m. is a busy time, we cannot allow office checkouts after 3:20 p.m. Please plan accordingly.

  • If your child is a walker but will become a car rider due to inclement weather, you are responsible for notifying the school. We no longer send text messages about rainy-day dismissals.

Please review the arrival and dismissal maps.
