Headline: Upcoming Test of the School Emergency Messaging System

As we prepare for the winter weather season, our school district will conduct a routine test of our

emergency notification system during the week of November 2, 2026. This test ensures that our

automated system can reach all families promptly via phone call, text message, and email during weather delays, emergency dismissals, or school cancellations.

What You Need to Know:

• Broadcast Identification: The test message will be clearly identified as a TEST broadcast. No emergency action is required upon receipt.

• Multi-Channel Broadcast: Alerts will be dispatched via phone call, SMS text message, and email based on current preferred contact records.

• Contact Verification: If your phone number or email address has changed recently, please complete and return the form (Part 2) to your school's main office or update your details in the online Parent Portal prior to November 4, 2026.

If your student uses school transportation, please make sure you have downloaded the “MyRide” app. We use this app to send out messages, notifications, and alerts for buses running late, late starts, route changes, etc. MyRide is currently our only means of communication around all things bus related. With winter just around the corner, we want to make sure our caregivers are receiving bus notifications in real time.

ENABLE PHONE NOTIFICATIONS: Turn on pop-up or lock-screen notifications in your phone's settings so real-time updates appear right on your screen!

Calais Advisory Team (CAT)

Dear Calais Community,

Growing on the success of the WCUUSD Community Learning Series, an intergenerational evening community learning experience, we are planning to host hand-craft workshops in early winter.

We are currently seeking folks with experience and comfort leading workshops in any of the following areas:

• Handwork

• Candle-Dipping

• Hard wood spatulas

• Darned / patchwork clothing

• Printing on clothing

• Greeting cards

• Print making

• Dried flower art

• Teas

• Felting

Several people have asked us about our "I love Calais hats" and where to get one. These are not being sold by the school, rather through Friends of Calais.
