What's Happening at Western?
10/23/2026
Dear Western Families,
We want to give a huge round of applause to our talented WMS 8th Grade Band students! On Wednesday, October 21, they performed their first concert of the year alongside their peers from Eastern and Central Middle Schools at Greenwich High School. It was an inspiring night filled with music, collaboration, and community as our students shared the impressive results of weeks of hard work with hundreds of family members and friends in the audience.
If you missed the performance, or want to experience the magic again, our band will be performing "Black Forest Overture" at our upcoming Winter Concert on December 15.
The fun continues tonight with our very first school dance of the year! Our PTA is hosting the Halloween Dance this evening, and I am so excited to celebrate with our students. I look forward to seeing everyone there for a fantastic night!
Warmly,
Matthew Laskowski
Principal, Western Middle School

Important Parent Drop-Off Information
As we move further into the school year, we want to take a moment to refresh everyone on our morning drop-off procedures. Our main priority during morning arrival is keeping our students, staff, and walking families safe while ensuring our drop-off line moves as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
Beat the 8:10 AM Bell: Students need to be dropped off early enough to be settled in their seats and ready to learn when class begins at 8:15 AM. Dropping off just a minute or two before 8:15 AM doesn't leave enough time to walk to the building, head to their lockers, and reach their classrooms before the bell rings.
Front Circle Drop-Off Only: All vehicle drop-offs must take place in the front circle. For the safety of our students, please do not drop your child off in the parking lots to the left or right of the building, along the main road, or in the lot across the street. Crossing traffic on foot without assistance is extremely dangerous for children.
Stay in the Single Drop-Off Queue: When entering the driveway, please stay in the right-hand lane along the curb. Do not pull out or attempt to pass cars on the left. Passing creates a safety hazard for staff, students, and walking families moving through the area.
Pull All the Way Up to the Stop Sign: When you enter the circle, please pull all the way forward toward the stop sign at the very end. Our staff will be out there to assist in pulling forward. Pulling all the way forward allows multiple cars to unload simultaneously, prevents backups onto the main street, and keeps traffic moving. Honestly, it’s an amazing sight when a full line of cars pulls up and opens their doors all at once!
Be Ready to Unload: To keep the line moving, please ensure your child has their backpack, lunchboxes, sports gear, and instruments inside the car with them rather than in the trunk. Once your car comes to a stop, they should be ready to hop out right away. Once your child is safely out, please pull forward as soon as the car in front of you moves.
Thank you for your cooperation, patience, and partnership in making our morning drop-off both safe and efficient for our entire school community!
