Welcome to the 2024/2025 School Year
Greetings WPS Community,
This past Monday we welcomed back all our WPS staff who have been working hard these past few days engaged in preparing for the arrival of our students today.
This time at the start of the school year is vital in ensuring that required trainings are completed, staff can get caught up on any new or important information, schedules are finalized, and classrooms and workspaces are prepared to ensure we are ready to open school for the year.
These days are not only important in our work to prepare for school opening but also represent a rare opportunity for our staff to be together in one location.
We employ more than 600 full and part time staff that include nurses, teachers, educational assistants, school and district leaders, administrative assistants, food services, information technology specialist and many other vital roles that we rely upon to support the teaching and learning that our community expects each day.
Despite operating eight (8) schools, we truly are ONE professional community who work together, learn together and help each other along while committed to one central pursuit– doing the best we can to provide the very best educational experience possible for the students of Wilmington.
Let me take this opportunity to wish all of you a successful school year ahead and I look forward to seeing you around OUR community soon.

Reminder: Transportation/Bus Route Information
- All students who wish to utilize the bus should have already registered for transportation. There will be no changes to the routes for the first few weeks of school until bus registration reopens on Monday, September 23rd.
- Bus passes were already mailed out (in mid-August) and route information provided via email and the district website. Bus passes will reflect a student's afternoon bus only and AM only riders will not receive a pass however will be permitted to board in the morning.
- Once published, we ask that you please review the routes with your children to ensure they know their bus number and stop.
District Communication
Our school district utilizes the SchoolMessenger system to deliver text messages straight to your mobile phone with important information about events, school closings, safety alerts, and more. In order to receive texts, you must indicate your willingness to participate by sending a one-time text message of “Y” or “Yes” to our districts short code number, 67587.

Wilmington Fall Fest 2024
When: Saturday, 9/28/2024, starting at 10:00am
Where: Town Common
What: The Wilmington Fourth of July Committee is excited to debut its 2nd Annual Fall Fest, a Celebration culminating the spirit of our Community & Season.
The event will feature community booths, food trucks, touch-a-truck, antique car show, an inflatable park, trackless train rides, activity tent, community meals, local crafters, vendors & business booths, raffles, live entertainment and Wilmington merchandise sales – all to benefit the Wilmington Fun on the Fourth Celebration.
Rain date: Saturday, 10/5
Admission includes event entry, events, games & activities. All craft, food and vendor items sold separately.
