Thank You for Being Part of Our Story
DaVinci Academy families,
We have finally reached the time of year where we focus on the transition from one journey to the next. For some, that means celebrating the milestone of completing our kindergarten year, for others it means saying goodbye to DaVinci academy altogether and looking forward to high school. Whatever chapter you are closing as a student, family member, or staff, we hope that you have enjoyed the journey and know that the next chapter is full of new memories to be made.
I know you have heard me say thank you before, but as I close out my second year at DaVinci Academy I want to say it again. I am so grateful for the connections, conversations, and collaborative meetings I have had with our growing school community. I often tell students and staff that I see myself as a lifelong learner, my catch phrase is “if you aren’t learning, you aren’t living”. I have learned so much from our community and I look forward to continuing to help DaVinci Academy grow well into the future. Remember to take some time to celebrate all that you have accomplished and know that we are always here for you, even well after the last school bell rings on the 2025-2026 school year.
My best,
Antonio Kuklok
Executive Director
A New Tradition Begins at DaVinci Academy!
Something exciting is coming to DaVinci Academy!
Beginning this year, our incoming 5th grade students will become the founding members of the DaVinci Academy House System. A new tradition designed to strengthen school spirit, build lasting relationships, and create opportunities for leadership and belonging.
What is the DVA House System?
At DaVinci Academy, Character Development is one of our four core pillars. The House System brings that pillar to life by creating a community where students are connected, supported, challenged, and celebrated.
Each student will be assigned to a House where they will:
⭐ Build friendships across grade levels
⭐ Participate in House competitions and challenges
⭐ Earn House points through positive behavior and leadership
⭐ Develop teamwork and communication skills
⭐ Connect with staff mentors throughout their DaVinci journey
Every House will include both students and staff members, creating a network of support and mentorship that extends beyond the classroom.
One June 10 Our current 4th grade students will be the first students in DaVinci history to participate in a House Sorting Ceremony. During this special event, students will discover their House and officially begin their journey as members of the DVA House community.
This exciting ceremony will serve as the official launch of a tradition that we hope will continue for generations of DaVinci students.
More Than a House
The DVA House System is about more than competitions and points. It is about creating a school culture where every student feels:
✔ Seen
✔ Supported
✔ Connected
✔ Celebrated
We cannot wait to welcome our newest House members and watch them grow as leaders, collaborators, and positive contributors to our school community. Stay tuned for more information!
The journey begins June 10!

Mental Health Minute
Summer break is almost here! While it’s a great time for kids to relax and recharge, it’s also an opportunity to keep them engaged, active, and connected to meaningful learning experiences.
Here are a few simple tips to help your family have a fun and balanced summer:
Keep a Routine
Children thrive with consistency, especially during the summer months. A flexible routine with regular sleep schedules, outdoor time, reading, and family connection can help kids feel more regulated and make the transition back to school easier in the fall.
Click here to learn more about how to create and maintain a routine this summer.
Stay Active
Physical activity supports both physical and mental well-being. Look for free or low-cost opportunities in your neighborhood, such as:
Parks and playgrounds
Bike rides or family walks
Splash pads and community pools
Library and community events
Backyard games and outdoor play
Keep Learning Fun
Learning can happen through everyday activities! Reading, cooking, journaling, crafts, nature walks, audiobooks, and family outings are all great ways to keep kids curious and engaged over the summer.
Explore Summer Camps & Programs
Summer camps and community programs can help children build friendships, confidence, and new skills. Local community education programs, libraries, and parks & recreation departments offer a variety of affordable options for kids of all ages and interests.
Click here to access a database of summer camps in our community and greater metro area. You can filter results by student age, location, and price, to find the right fit for your family.
Most importantly, summer does not need to be perfectly planned to be meaningful. Time spent playing, exploring, resting, and connecting with family can make a lasting impact.
Wishing your family a safe, fun, and memorable summer! ☀️
A Note from the Health Office
As another wonderful school year comes to a close, the Health Office would like to share a few important reminders to help families prepare for the 2026–2027 school year.
Medications at School
Families of students with medications stored in the Health Office were contacted regarding end-of-year medication pickup. Any medications that were not picked up or otherwise arranged for by the end of the school year have been disposed of according to school policy and Minnesota regulations.
Future 7th Grade Students
Parents of current 6th grade students are reminded that additional immunizations are required for 7th grade attendance under Minnesota law. If your student receives vaccinations over the summer, please send updated immunization records to Nurses@DavinciCharterSchool.org so we can update their health records before the start of school in August.
Health Plans, Emergency Plans, and Prescription Medications
Students who have Individual Health Plans (IHPs), Emergency Action Plans (EAPs), chronic health conditions, or prescription medications at school will need updated provider orders for the 2026–2027 school year.
When school resumes in August, please provide:
Updated provider orders or action plans, as applicable
Any prescription medications your student requires at school
Medications in their original container with a current pharmacy label attached
Medications that are not expired
These requirements are established by Minnesota law and help ensure that students receive safe and appropriate care while at school.
Thank you for your partnership throughout the school year. We wish all of our students and families a safe, healthy, and enjoyable summer!
PTO News and Updates
This has been a wonderful school year, and we attribute its success to the entire DVA community. We are truly grateful to all the families, teachers, staff, and volunteers who supported our fundraisers, attended our events, and generously donated their time. Because of your enthusiasm and dedication, we were able to provide an action‑packed year filled with exciting events, meaningful experiences, and cherished memories. Most importantly, your support allowed us to continue enhancing our children’s educational journey.
All of your contributions to this year’s fundraising efforts made it possible for us to provide so many wonderful opportunities for our students. We were able to allocate Boosterthon funds toward multiple field trips, new technology, enhanced art and music programs, meaningful curriculum improvements, and much, much more.
Our smaller fundraisers—Pizza/Butterbraids, Gertens, Cheap Skate, and DaVinners—provided tremendous support throughout the year because of our incredible community participation. Your involvement made all the difference, allowing us to fulfill monthly teacher classroom requests, support various school activities, and sponsor teacher conference meals, snack carts, the Middle School Party, the Carnival, the Middle School Career Fair, and Teacher Appreciation Week.
A great big THANK YOU for your incredible support this school year!
Wishing you all a healthy, safe, and happy summer. We look forward to seeing you in August—come find us at the Open House!
