OUUC Transylvania Pilgrimage Discussion Session

Thursday, February 27

6:30 pm

Rick Brandt-Kruetz and Curtis Tanner will facilitate a discussion and answer questions about the OUUC Transylvania Pilgrimage following the Community Dinner on February 27. After enjoying the meal, we’ll convene in Classroom 4 around 6:30 pm. Folks planning on attending the pilgrimage, and those interested in learning more are invited to join.

The tour of sites of historic significance to our Unitarian faith tradition in Transylvania is scheduled for September 23 - October 2, 2025. Transylvania is a Hungarian speaking/culturally identifying region in northern Romania. Our 10 day/9 night tour will include three nights hosted by members of our partner church in Kissolymos. Our trip will begin and end in the city of Kolozsvár, where the nearby Cluj International Airport (CLJ) provides numerous options for flights from the U.S. Costs are $2,700 per person double occupancy, $3,000 for solo travelers. This fee is inclusive of all trip expenses (excluding airfare), and includes all meals, tours, transportation in Transylvania, accommodations, and gratuities.

If you are interested in participating and not already on the email distribution list for the trip, please contact Rick Brandt-Kreutz or Curtis Tanner. Additional information on the tour itinerary can be downloaded below. We anticipate an educational and spiritually meaningful experience and hope you can join us for this unique opportunity to better understand the roots of our Unitarian religious tradition. Please join us this coming Thursday evening to learn more!

Death Cafe at OUUC

Monday, March 3

4 pm

Join us for our monthly Death Cafes at OUUC, supported through Pastoral Care & Adult Faith Development and facilitated by Jenee Wolfram, certified End of Life Doula. Death Cafes are not a grief support group but an informal, death positive, group-led space for conversations about all things death and dying. This is a drop-in program. All are welcome! Let’s normalize conversations around death and dying, bringing this long taboo topic out into the light. And, did I mention THERE WILL BE TEA & CAKE!?!

Tickets on sale for May 17 Carrie Newcomer Events! Also Seeking Volunteers and Visitor Hosts!

Tickets are now available on Eventbrite! We are so excited for Carrie's return to OUUC this Spring! 10:00am workshop and 7:00pm concert tickets are now available for purchase on Eventbrite. Follow this link to get your tickets, and feel free to share it with others. We expect both events to sell out ahead of time -- so if you plan to come, consider purchasing yours soon.

Volunteers welcome! Like last year, it will take many hearts and many hands to make the weekend a success. We'll need volunteers to help with planning, spreading the word, space setup, greeting and welcoming, serving coffee and tea, providing snacks, ticket taking, driving, and more. Introverted or extroverted, available that weekend or not, there's room for you on the team supporting Carrie's visit!

Seeking hosts for overnight guests! Many of Carrie's fans travel for her shows, and we expect to have several folks come from out of town for the weekend. If you would be interested in opening up your home to a guest (or a few) for one or two nights (May 16 and/or 17), we'd love to connect. OUUC will collect fees from guests to help cover the financial costs of Carrie's visit... and stipends will be available to hosts, to help hosts cover the extra expenses of having guests in your home. Host/guest matches will be made thoughtfully, considering everyone's needs. This is great way to support OUUC while meeting new people and building community!

Questions? Need support with tickets? Want to volunteer or learn more about hosting? Contact Liz Clement.

Quick Notes Quick Notes

Please take extra care to leave church spaces better than you found them after use.

Beware of periodic scammers via email and text. You may be contacted by scammers impersonating Rev. Mary or other church staff. Scammers also try to reach people via text. Often, they will ask for you to contact them right away, and they may ask for financial assistance/information or contact information of others at the church. Always double check and make sure the email or text was sent from a source you recognize. Scammers will create new addresses that appear like a known email address. When in doubt, check in with the person in your life who appears to be trying to contact you, using a known contact method.
