Emergency Contact Information:
For the safety of our students and our school communities, it’s important that New York City Public
Schools (NYCPS) and school staff are able to contact a trusted guardian in the event there is an
emergency at the school or concerning a student in attendance.
Please be sure that PS 199Q has the current address and contact information of a trusted
adult who can come to school to retrieve your child in the event of an emergency.
You can update your student's emergency contact and health information online through your New York
City Schools Account (NYCSA) at schoolsaccount.nyc. You may also provide this information via the blue emergency contact card which can be retrieved at your school, if preferred.
Thank you for your continued support in making PS 199 a wonderful place for our students to learn and grow.

A Message From Our Superintendent
Dear District 24 Community,
I am honored and excited to introduce myself as the interim acting Superintendent of District 24. I recognize this is a mid-year transition, and I appreciate your support as we work together to ensure our students continue thriving.
I come to you as a proud product of New York City’s public school system, born and raised in the Bronx. My journey was not always a straightforward one, and my family faced many of the challenges that our students encounter today. During those formative years, school was a sanctuary that transformed into an open door to life beyond our circumstances. That door ultimately led me to where I am today.
On a personal note, I am the father of three amazing children—the most rewarding job I have ever had— and the husband of an incredible and supportive wife who also serves as a NYC elementary school principal. I am the son of a retired bilingual schoolteacher and the brother of a school counselor. Education runs deep in my family, and I could not be prouder of the collective impact we strive to make.
At my core is the belief that all children possess incredible potential. With the right opportunities and support, I know every child can achieve at high levels; after all, I was one of them. I bring this conviction into my work each day, and I am deeply committed to ensuring all students in District 24 have the tools, encouragement, and conditions they need to thrive.
In the coming weeks, I will be embarking on a listening tour across our district. I look forward to visiting your schools, meeting your leadership teams, speaking with students, engaging with parents, and hearing from community leaders and elected officials. My goal is to gain a comprehensive understanding of District 24’s strengths, challenges, and opportunities so we can chart a collective path forward.
I am excited to learn from all of you, build upon the strong foundations already in place, and collaborate on ways to make our district even stronger. Together, we will ensure every child in District 24 has the highest quality experience in our schools.
Thank you for your dedication and leadership. I am eager to partner with you and support the incredible work happening in your schools every day. Please feel free to reach out with any questions, ideas, or concerns. I look forward to meeting each of you soon.
With gratitude and anticipation,
Anthony Rivera
District 24
Community Superintendent, I.A.
Important Dates from Ms. Becco, Parent Coordinator
An Important Message from Ms. Becco
We have important tasks to complete in the weeks ahead.
Good day, Falcon Families.
There is a lot going on, in the next few weeks. Let start with the 2025 NYC School Survey which opens TODAY! That means that you can sign into your NYCSA account and use the link to access the survey.
You can go to the website: nycschoolsurvey.org and use your access code which begins with the lowercase "f" and is followed by your children school id # or OSIS number. You can also wait to receive, a paper copy of the survey for each of your children in school , that will be distributed this week. You must complete the paper survey and drop in a mailbox or you can choose to return it to the school in the sealed green envelope provided.
We are offering many incentives for your completed surveys. Classes that have 100% completed surveys will receive a pizza or Ice cream party. There will be incentives at school events for handing in completed surveys. We are looking for 100% school participation this year.
The CECC Election Application is now open. Here is a video of past applicants and why they chose to run for a seat. Office of Family and Community Empowerment | Why We Run for Community Councils? Have you ever wondered what motivates someone to step up and run for a Community or Citywide Education... | Instagram
Every two years, our school system holds elections to fill hundreds of critical roles on our Citywide and Community Education Councils. The parents and family members who serve on these councils (known as CECs) shape our school communities in countless ways—relaying parents’ feedback to our Family and Community Empowerment (FACE) team, participating in the hiring of superintendents and parent coordinators, approving school zoning lines, and so much more.
Visit schools.nyc.gov/Elections2025 to learn about CECs—both how to run and how to get involved this election season. Candidates will campaign from late February through April, and voting will take place from late April through mid-May.
