Updates from the Week
Wellness Committee Staff Appreciation Form- Celebrating our Falcons
As part of the DR Wellness Committeeās commitment to fostering a positive school community, we are excited to reinstate our Gratitude Initiative! We invite students, staff, and families to share their appreciation for our incredible staff. We believe that expressing gratitude can uplift spirits and strengthen our connections.
To participate, simply fill out the Google Form to recognize a staff member who has made a positive impact on you or your family/child. Your submissions will be featured in a DR Wellness Committee Newsletter, celebrating the hard work and dedication of our staff.
Unified at DES
This week was another wonderful group for our Unified program here at DES! Our ACE club kiddos learned all about the Buddy Bench, why we have it here at school, how to use it and what to do if they see a friend accessing it. We practiced by going outside and playing, then taking turns sitting out and needing support. The kids were INCREDIBLE! We are hopeful that they are able to put their practice into action during their grade level recesses and be leaders in including those who need it!
Additionally, our ACE Club kiddos and members of our TLC programs joined forces for our very first Unified PE class! Mrs. Corvi and Ms. Kim (APE) facilitated a joint gym class where the kids were able to work on fundamental skills and play games. It was the first of many opportunities to show that we are DR, we are UNIFIED and that we are ALL FALCONS! #everyfalcon #everyday
Lastly, t-shirt order forms went home with each student earlier this week. Please consider purchasing one (or many) as proceeds support the wonderful work we are doing! We thank you in advance for your support and consideration!
Notification of Annual Health Screenings
Dear Parent/Guardian,
The Dighton ā Rehoboth School Health Services program supports student academic success by promoting health in the school setting. One way that we provide care for your child is by performing the health screenings as mandated by the State of Massachusetts. Screenings are not a diagnostic tool, but rather a means of identifying potential problems that can affect a childās performance in school. The following health screenings will start in October and will continue throughout the school year:
Vision āGrades Pre K - 4th grade
Hearing ā Grades Pre K- 3rd grade
Growth and Development - (height and weight) ā Grades 1 and 4
If your child is tested, and the results are not in the ānormalā range for the vision and hearing screen, you will be notified by letter. If you receive a letter, it is recommended that you take your child to a doctor or healthcare provider for a comprehensive evaluation.
If you want your child to participate in the screenings for his/her grade, no further action is required.
If you do not want your child to participate in any or all of the screenings, please send a letter to the school nurse. This request must be written each year and be specific to which screening(s) you would like your child to opt out of participating.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call the school nurse, Mrs. Alberto,
