💐 Happy National Grandparents Day! 💐
Today, we celebrate the love, wisdom, and guidance that grandparents bring into our lives. A special thank you to all of our wonderful Roosevelt grandparents for the care and support you give our students each and every day. We are so grateful for the joy and strength you add to our school community!
🎉 First Week of School: A Success! 🎉
Our first week of school was a success thanks to the support of our students, staff, and families. It has been a joy to see the enthusiasm and positive energy as everyone gets back into their routines.
🏫 Student who are getting breakfast should arrive at 8:25 AM. All other students should arrive at 8:35 AM. Students will head straight to their lockers to unpack and get ready for their day! During the month of September, we will be hosting a Schoolwide Morning Meeting to review expectations, procedures, and the Roosevelt Road!
🔢 Student ID#s - Please take some time this weekend to help your child MEMORIZE their student ID number. Students need this number to get school breakfast/lunch AND it is part of their Chromebook password! Student IDs should NOT be shared with anyone! ID numbers can be found in the Genesis Parent Portal!
🌎 Middle Earth Aftercare starts on Monday, September 8th after school from 3:10 - 6:10 PM! There is NO MIDDLE EARTH on half days! Please make arrangements to have your child picked up!
🔒 Locker Practice –We know lockers can be a challenge in the beginning, but with continued practice and support, students are building confidence. Our goal: 100% locker independence by October!
💻 Chromebooks –A friendly reminder to students to bring their Chromebooks to school fully charged each day, along with their chargers. This is an important part of being prepared for learning, and we appreciate your cooperation in making sure students are ready to go each morning.
💧 Water Only –To keep our classrooms clean and focused, please make sure students bring only water in their reusable water bottles—Juice can be saved for lunch! This helps us maintain a safe and distraction-free learning environment.
📢 Stay Connected
- Genesis Parent Portal: Families can now report absences or request early pickups (before 12:00pm) directly through Genesis. Notes and requests can also be tracked in the system.
- Communications: ParentSquare is now our main tool for school and district messages (replacing Remind). You may also receive updates from Finalsite (formerly Blackboard). Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook!
🎉 Let’s keep up the great work as we head into Week 2! Be sure to check out the rest of the newsletter for important updates, upcoming events, and more!
Attendance Matters: Every Day Counts! 🌟
Regular attendance is essential for your child's success in school. Being present every day helps students keep up with their learning, build strong relationships with their peers and teachers, and develop good habits that last a lifetime.
If your child is going to be absent, please make sure to notify the school as soon as possible. Let’s work together to ensure our students are here, on time, and ready to learn each day. Remember, every day counts!
💻 Genesis New Update/Reminder
Genesis Parent Portal💻
As we prepare for the first day of school, we need every family to log in to the Genesis Parent Portal and make sure all information is current and up to date. This includes emergency contacts, medical details, and arrival/dismissal information.
Genesis is your all-in-one portal for your child’s information, so keeping it updated AND checking it regularly helps us ensure a smooth and safe start to the school year. If you have not already done so, please take a few moments to complete this before the school day begins on Tuesday.
📱Parent Square Messaging System💬
Parents & Guardians -
We’re excited to share that our schools will now be using ParentSquare for all district and school communications, replacing Remind. ParentSquare allows you to receive messages via email, text, or app, view calendars, RSVP to events, and access student documents securely.
You should have received an invitation to activate your account, it's quick and easy. We encourage all families to join and stay connected with our school community!
Directions for how to connect with this communication system can be found below!

⭐💙 Counselor's Corner 💙⭐
Each month, our counseling lessons highlight one of the Roosevelt Road character traits along with a social-emotional learning tool. For the month of September, we are focusing on safety and practicing deep breathing strategies. We also take this time to introduce students to the counseling department and the support we provide. Please see the attached resource for more details about our September lessons and helpful tips to continue the conversation at home.
