GRAMMAR GAZETTE
Back-to-School Edition!

Thursday, June 9, 2023
Dear Fabulous Nova Classical Families,
School's out for summer! This is always a bittersweet time of year. I felt it as a teacher, and I feel it even more as a principal. There is something so special about seeing a year of hard work and growth from all of our scholars and then saying good-bye for the summer after building academic skills, relationships and community.
We are incredibly thankful for your support and partnership over the past year, we couldn't have done it without you!
Wishing you all a wonderful, restful, and rejuvenating summer!
Warm Regards,
Ms. Tousignant
Kudos!
Congratulations to Seraphina in 4th grade, who just returned from the National History Bee in Washington, D.C.! She competed her heart out against some incredible competition, scoring points in each of the four preliminary rounds. Unfortunately, her total points did not qualify her to advance to the quarterfinals, and she finished 63rd out of 134 of the best 4th grade and under history students in the nation.
Seraphina also competed in the National Ancient History Exam, finishing 19th in her age group; and the National Women's History Exam, for which the scores have not yet been posted. These exams were optional add-on events which Seraphina wanted to compete in due to her particular interest in those topics. We are so proud of Seraphina - she represented Nova well!
Summer Building Hours
Nova Classical will be open 9am to 3pm, Monday-Thursday starting on June 12th. The building will be closed on Fridays during the summer. The building will also be closed the week of July 3rd-July 7th, 2023.
Annual Update Reminder!
All currently enrolled K-11th Grade students are automatically enrolled for next year, however, we need every family to complete your annual update by June 9 so that next year's registration goes smoothly. Follow the steps here to complete your update.
While we don't want to see anyone leave, we understand that circumstances may change and needing to do what is best for your family. If your child is not planning to return to Nova Classical for the 23-24 school year, we ask that you submit this Google Form to keep us updated.
Summer Math & Reading Challenges!
Summer is a time for our scholars to have a break from school and spend more time outside and engaging in relaxing activities. It is worth noting that studies show the summer is when our students are at risk to lose some of the academic skills they learned during the school year.
To that end, we are pleased to introduce a Summer Math Challenge and a Summer Reading Challenge! Upon successful completion of each of these challenges, students will earn a certificate for a non-uniform day when we return to school! This information was sent home with your child this week, but here is it again for your reference.
There are many awesome resources included as well, from our very own Ms. Buri, Ms. Taylor, and Ms. Knowles, about the science of reading as well as different ways to foster a love for reading and books. Happy reading!
NPTO Updates! Join the Directory!
Over the past several months, NovaPTO has been working on a family directory solution to support our school community. We're happy to share that the NEW Nova Family Directory is up and running! Visit www.novapto.membershiptoolkit.com to create an account and access the directory before the end of the year.
