An Update from Hough Elementary

Dear Hough Community,

As we reach the end of another incredible school year, it’s hard to believe how quickly the time has flown. It feels like just yesterday I was welcoming students back with new backpacks, excited smiles, and wide eyes ready for all the learning and laughter ahead. And now, here we are—another year wiser, tougher, and more connected. So many amazing memories have been made!

Throughout this school year, I've watched your children grow in so many ways—not only academically, but also in confidence, creativity, and kindness. So many moments have shown amazing perseverance, powerful teamwork, and incredible growth during school-wide events and classroom collaborations. These moments continue to define who we are as a Hough community.

Thank you for your unwavering support, your volunteer hours, and your partnership throughout the year. Together, we’ve created a place where students feel seen, supported, and inspired to be their best self!

As summer begins,I hope your days are filled with sunshine, laughter, and moments that bring your family joy. Whether it’s an exciting vacation adventure, lazy time at the pool, or simply morning snuggle time without the alarm clock. I wish each of you a summer break filled with rest and happy memories.

I can’t wait to welcome you back in the fall for another wonderful year at Hough and wish our fifth graders all the best in their middle school adventure!

Congratulations to Mrs. Kotel's first graders for winning the Character Strong Trophy (again)!

5th Grade Recognition and Clap Out - On Friday, May 30th we invite 5th grade Parents (only please) for a light breakfast from 8:00-8:30 AM, followed by the 5th grade recognition ceremony in the gym. The 5th Grade Clap Out will take place at dismissal. Students line the hallways, 5th graders walk the halls and parents line the sidewalk along Lincoln Avenue to clap out our oldest Hough Hawks as they depart the "nest."

Last Day of School Treat - The PTO will serve popsicles to all students on the playground towards the end of the day on Friday, May 30th.

PTO Exec Board - Thank you to our entire PTO for an incredibly busy, fun and productive year. Barrington Giving Day- Barrington Giving Day (BGD) is collecting gently used or new school supplies for their Back to School event in early August. Please drop off at the entrance of the school in the large red collection box. BGD is also collecting gently used, clean sports equipment. Donation items can be dropped off at the BGD location in the Arboretum (100 W Higgins Road, Suite Q15 between DSW and The Loft) on Wednesday and Saturday mornings 9AM - 12PM.
