Dear PCK Families,

As we enter our second month of school, there is a sweet hum throughout our building. Classrooms have settled into their rhythms, students have found their groove, friendships are taking shape, and learning is happening with a sense of purpose. You can hear it in the conversations happening in the hallways, see it in students confidently moving from one class to the next, and feel it in the way teachers and students are beginning to know one another. It is one of my favorite parts of the school year.

Tomorrow is our first in-service day of the year, and while students will enjoy a day away from school, our teachers will be hard at work. These days are an important part of how we maintain the quality of education we provide at PCK. Our teachers are remarkable professionals who take their responsibility to their students seriously. They use in-service days to study, reflect, collaborate, analyze, and hone their craft.

September's in-service is known as our "Data Day". While we look at data consistently, we will use tomorrow to look carefully at data from last year to evaluate our academic programming and ensure the decisions we make today give our students the strongest possible educational experience. We will also examine the data we've been gathering this year to better understand each student’s needs. Are students receiving the support they need? Are they being appropriately challenged? Is the level of rigor right? Where do we need to adjust our instruction? How can we best serve each of our students?

We will also welcome a nationally recognized educational speaker who will challenge our teachers to think deeply about the focused intentionality behind the practices we engage in every day. Our goal is not simply to do more, but to become even more thoughtful about what we do, why we do it, and how it impacts student learning.

As a community, we understand that excellence does not happen by chance. It is built through intentional decisions, consistent effort, and a willingness to keep getting better. Our in-service days allow us to drive deep into this work.

So, while the building may be a little quieter tomorrow, learning will still be happening. Our teachers and staff will be learning so that our students can learn better. And that is a commitment we are proud to make to every PCK family.

With gratitude,

Breanna Warburton, Principal (PS-4)

We’ve partnered with the Colorado Rapids to reward good attendance from September through early October! This initiative will provide students who reach 88% attendance from Wednesday September 9, through Thursday, October 8 with a free ticket to a Colorado Rapids game. This means students need to miss less than 3 days of school through this period of time to qualify!

Please note that this is a student based initiative, rather than a class or grade level initiative. Students who qualify through this program at the end of the challenge will receive a voucher to redeem their complimentary ticket.

Additional tickets will be available for purchase at a discounted rate for family members who would like to attend. Only Colorado Rapids home games are eligible for tickets through this initiative.

We loved seeing our community come together for a wonderful evening of movie watching under the stars for our 2026 Back to School Movie Night!

A special thank you to our PTO for putting together such a fun event, and to everyone who came out to enjoy time together and celebrate our school community.

We look forward to many more opportunities to gather throughout the year. Events like these are such a wonderful reminder of what makes PCK such a special place.

Spanish Spanish

This week, we wanted to highlight the fun and creative ways our Spanish team is making second language learning engaging and relatable in a meaningful way for PCK students.

Some of our 3rd grade students had the opportunity to play “Go Fish” while learning new Spanish vocabulary terms. By connecting familiar Spanish terminology with visualization, students were able to practice their language and translation skills in a fun and interactive way.

Our Spanish team continues to find innovative ways to make language learning enjoyable for all students. By incorporating familiar games and activities into the curriculum, students can make meaningful connections between English and Spanish, making new vocabulary easier to understand, remember, and use.

We continue to partner closely with our uniform vendors to provide PCK families with affordable options throughout the school year, including occasional sales and special promotions.

As we settle back into the rhythm of the new school year, you may have noticed that your student could use a few refreshed uniform pieces. This week is a great opportunity to update their wardrobe while taking advantage of savings on high-quality uniform items.

Tommy Hilfiger is offering PCK families 20% off orders of $50 or more, from now through Tuesday, September 8. Families should use promo code 926TWTOFFE at checkout to receive this discount on their order.

Don't forget to register your student for this year's Fund Run!

Registration can be completed online through Boosterthon. This process takes just a few minutes to complete, and classes who receive 80% of their students registered by the end of Friday, September 4 will be credited with a dress down day on Thursday, September 17.

PCK Fund Run Registration

We also wanted to provide a clarification regarding last week’s communication about the Fund Run launch. To clarify, $1,000 funds raised will receive one prize from the first mega-prize tier, rather than all of the prizes listed within that tier.

Additionally, last week's message mentioned that classes who received a dress down day by meeting the 80% registration goal would receive the dress down day on Friday, September 17. We would like to clarify the date they will receive this dress down day is on Thursday, September 17.

We apologize for any confusion this may have caused and appreciate your understanding.

Sponsors Sponsors

We are incredibly grateful to our Gold Level Sponsors for helping make the PCK Fund Run possible!

Their generous support helps us create a fun, exciting, and memorable experience for our student, giving them a day filled with smiles, laughter, and special moments they’ll remember long after the finish line.

PCK community, please join us in showing our Sponsors some Cougar appreciation by supporting their businesses!
