Upcoming Important Dates:

Thursday, May 21 - Last Day of School for Students (12:00 Noon Dismissal)
The team of Nicholas Davis and Syed Abedi were one of the few teams chosen nationwide to travel to Houston to present their senior engineering project. The team of two have been working all school year to design a hygiene stall for space. The low gravity environment makes taking a shower near impossible due to the risk of the water droplets being inhaled and drowning the astronauts. This school year they have been participating in a NASA program called HUNCH (High Schools United with NASA to Create Hardware). Before being selected the team had to pass a preliminary design review and a critical design review with a team from NASA. On April 28th, the team participated in their final design review where they presented their ideas to NASA astronauts and engineers at Space Center Houston. We are very proud of their accomplishments and wish them all the best as they proceed to their college engineering journey.
TCS School Counselors Present at MTSS Showcase
Our wonderful school counselors Lauren Blake (Magnolia Elementary) and Mandy McIntosh (Cahaba Elementary) did an excellent job on Monday presenting at the MTSS Showcase. Their presentation demonstrated how morning meetings promote core values, align with character education, as well as the mental health and wellness of the student.

HTMS Spring Concert Success
This week, the HTMS Spring Showcase featured the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Honors Band as they wowed the crowd with performances that highlighted their commitment, growth, and musical talent throughout the year. It was a fantastic evening filled with great music, special recognitions, and plenty of Husky pride!
Thank you to band directors Brandon Peters, Corinth Lewis, and Shannon Moore for inspiring our students and making this concert season such a success.
Community Heroes Roll Into Kindergarten and First Grade
Cahaba’s kindergarten and 1st graders recently traded their desks for the parking lot during an exciting Careers on Wheels event. Kindergarten and 1st grade students had the chance to meet local heroes from the police and fire departments, explore a medical helicopter from the Children’s Hospital, and visit with representatives from the local library and area businesses. The sirens and flashing lights were a huge hit, but the real magic was seeing the students' faces light up as they sat in the driver's seats and learned how these vehicles help keep our community safe and thriving.
Throughout the morning, guest speakers shared stories about their daily work and the importance of helping others. From learning about fire safety to discovering how the bookmobile brings stories to life, students gained a new appreciation for the diverse roles within our neighborhood. We extend a huge thank you to all the professionals who took the time to inspire our future leaders because you certainly left a lasting impression on our school.

It's Time to RIDE with the HUSKIES!
We want you to be one of the first people with the opportunity to ride with the Huskies!
The Trussville City Schools Foundation and the Trussville City Schools Athletic Foundation have partnered to create a Distinctive Car Tag through the state of Alabama that supports Trussville City Schools! We are giving away the first 1000 car tags completely free to you, and we want you to be one of the first 1000 to ride with the Huskies!
We currently have 350 signups and need 650 more to get to production! Please sign up today!
1. What is the Trussville City Schools distinctive car tag?
It’s a specialty license plate that shows your support for both the Trussville City Schools Foundation and the Trussville City Schools Athletic Foundation.
2. Who benefits from the tag?
Both foundations benefit directly. Funds support educational programs, classroom needs, and athletic opportunities for students.
3. How much does the tag cost?
The first year is FREE for the first 1,000 people who sign up. After that, individuals have the option of paying $50 to renew their plate. This would be handled at the tag office.
4. How much money goes back to the schools?
From each tag purchased, $48.75 goes directly to support the two foundations.
5. Why is it important to be one of the first 1,000?
Reaching the first 1,000 commitments helps ensure the tag becomes available—and you’ll also get your first year free.
6. Do I have to pay anything up front?
No—there is no upfront cost to reserve your tag as part of the first 1,000. The only cost is upon renewal of your car tag.
7. When will I receive my tag?
Once the 1,000 commitment goal is met and production is approved, you will be emailed a voucher. Individuals will take the voucher to their tag office and pick up the license plate free of charge.
8. Where do I get my tag?
You will pick up your car tag from your local tag office. The Trussville Tag Office will have the tags available upon request.
9. Can I still get the tag after the first 1,000?
Yes! However, the free first-year offer only applies to the first 1,000 participants.
10. How do I sign up?
You can sign up through the official Google form provided by the school system or foundations.
11. Can businesses or organizations participate?
Absolutely! Anyone with an eligible vehicle can sign up and show their support.
12. Why should I participate?
It’s an easy way to give back, show school pride, and directly support students, teachers, and athletic programs in Trussville. Show everyone that you are riding with the Huskies.

Helping Your Child Beat End-of-Year Burnout
As the school year winds down, many students and parents feel the pressure of final exams, projects, and the anticipation of summer break. It's common for kids to experience end-of-year burnout, where motivation decreases and emotions run high. With a little support, families can finish strong and encounter less stress.
Signs of Burnout in Children:
- Feeling tired or overwhelmed
- Changes in sleep or eating habits
- Trouble concentrating
- Mood swings or irritability
- Saying things like, "I just want it to be over!"
Tips to Support Your Child:
Help them prioritize - Sit down together and break tasks into manageable chunks. A visual checklist or calendar can make deadlines feel less intimidating
Build in breaks - Encourage short mental breaks...a walk, stretch, snack, or even a laugh can help recharge their focus
Validate their feelings - Let them know it's okay to feel tired or overwhelmed. A simple "You're doing great, and I'm proud of your effort" can go a long way
Celebrate small wins - Finish a homework assignment? Big test done? Celebrate it! Acknowledge the effort, not just the outcome
Keep a healthy routine - Healthy habits like consistent sleep, balanced meals, and screen-free downtime help maintain energy and reduce anxiety
