Shared Staff Spotlight

Oneida Huizar

Executive Assistant to the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services

What is your role in the shared services model?

I am the Executive Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services-Jamie DiCarlo.

How long have you worked for both districts and in what roles?

I have been working for both districts for two years. However, my journey with D120 began back in 2006 when I started as a Paraprofessional and Interpreter for the Special Services Department. Most recently, I was the Special Services Administrative Assistant and Interpreter before transitioning into my current role.

How has the shared services model improved relationships between schools, administrators, and the broader community?

I feel that the shared services model fosters a sense of shared responsibility and collective effort that not only enhances the educational environment but also strengthens the overall unity and resilience of the community. It shows that everyone has a stake in the success of students.

What positive feedback have you received from parents and community members?

I have participated in a couple of community outreach events where parents and students are excited to see school representatives out in the community. Our families appreciate the teamwork and effort being put in to support the kids through our school districts.

Fun question – If someone wanted to send you an afternoon “pick me up” what would your snack or drink of choice be?

I love the sweet ice tea (with extra lemon) from McDonalds. 😉
