Sedgwick Library News Update!

And now onto October -always a great month in the library:

• The Makerspace is buzzing with creativity as students take on the Global Cardboard Challenge. See below for Caine's Arcade that inspired this phenomenon.
• It's spooky season! Grab a scary book from the library!
• Two-Sentence Horror Story Contest! Entrance details below!
• Kids' Lit Quiz foir 6th graders will be selecting teams on 10/28! If you are interested in participating, please have lunch in the library on 10/21!
• Pokemon Club Started for 8th and 6th graders in the library Fridays, during 6th Lunch / 8th Learning Lab. Grab a pass from the library!

Articulated ghost - not necessarily white!

This month we are building with with cardboard. Inspired by Caine's Arcade we build whatever our imagination leads us to at the Makerspace! This year we are introducing a ChompSaw which helps cut the cardboard safely. Stay tuned to see what our students come up with!

We had our first three lunches for 6th-Grade Kids' Lit Quiz and I am looking forward to more. Our next meeting is 10/21 our Qualifying Quiz is 10/28. I will be chaperoning a field trip on Wednesday the 14th, so we won't meet again until the 21st!

on 10/28, there will be a 50-question qualifying quiz for anyone who wants to try out for a TEAM spot. Students with the top scores will be invited to join our Kids' Lit Quiz teams for the year.

Kids' Lit Quiz is an international organization. The US coordinator has already scheduled the Regional Heats to be in Wallingford, Connecticut, the last week of January. More detailed information will be provided to the families of the kids on the teams.

Wow! Our 3D printer is running every day! Already students have signed up to print into January. The form is currently closed to new prints. Beginning in January we will have a whole new format! Stay tuned! (And check out the prize for the 2-sentence Horror Story!)
