Dear FSD 157-C Community,

Welcome to the 2026-2027 School Year!

While students have been enjoying summer break, our staff has been busy preparing for a successful year ahead. Teachers and support staff have participated in professional learning, administrators have been planning for students' return, our technology team has been preparing district systems, and our maintenance and custodial crews have been beautifying our schools so they are ready to welcome everyone back.

Our three principals, Mrs. Szudy, Ms. Newcomb, and Mrs. Dotson have put considerable thought and care into creating student schedules. On Friday, August 7 at 10 AM, all three principals will send a welcome letter to families via email detailing information about the year. Then, on Monday, August 10 at 8 AM, families will learn their child’s class placement when PowerSchool officially opens for all three schools.

If you have not registered for a PowerSchool account, you will have to do so on Monday, August 10 at 8 AM before you can view your child's schedule. PowerSchool will not be open beforehand. The link to our technology page, that provides both the direct link to PowerSchool and registration information, can be found below.

There are many important and exciting events to prepare for at the start of the year. Please review the detailed list of key dates for all three schools.

• Hickory Creek - 8:30 AM- 10:00 AM

• Chelsea – 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM

• Grand Prairie – 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM

• Preschool *Thursday, August 20* - AM Class: 9:30 - 10:30, PM Class 12:30 - 1:30

Thursday, August 20 - First Day of School

• Kindergarten–8th Grade: Thursday, August 20 (Full Day – Bring lunch and water bottle)
• Preschool: Friday, August 21

Hickory Creek: 7:45 AM – 2:10 PM

Grand Prairie: 8:25 AM – 2:50 PM

Chelsea: 9:05 AM – 3:30 PM

Preschool:

AM: 8:20 – 10:50

PM: 12:00 – 2:30

Grand Prairie: Tuesday, August 25, 5:30 – 7 PM

Hickory Creek: Thursday, August 27, 5:30 - 7 PM

Chelsea: Tuesday, September 1, 5:30 - 7 PM

As part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen communication between our schools and families, we ask that you complete the Communication Survey below to better understand how families prefer to receive information from the district.

The 11-question Communication Survey will take 5 minutes or less to complete. Your feedback will help us evaluate our current communication practices and ensure we are providing timely and clear information in the ways that work best for families. We encourage all parents and guardians to take a few minutes to complete the survey and share your perspective by clicking the button below. The survey will be available until 8pm on September 30.
