Term 2 Week 8 2026
Prayer
Loving God,
We thank you for the gift of Jesus in the Eucharist,
his Body and Blood given for us.
As we celebrate Corpus Christi,
help us to recognise you in one another
and to live with kindness, compassion, and generosity each day.
May we share your love with those around us
and be a sign of your presence in our school community.
Our Vision and Values
From Mr Will
Dear Community Members,
Week 8 of Term 2 can you believe it?! I heard an expression the other day that sometimes the days can feel long, but the weeks and months fly by. This rings so true for me. The fact that, as I write this, we are 10 days into June is incredible. As we enter the coldest and darkest days of the year, it is an opportune time to take stock of the year that has been.
Recovery
As we move through the latter part of the term and as the weather becomes colder and wetter, it’s common for students to begin feeling the effects of the cumulative load of Term 2: the build-up of physical, emotional and cognitive demands from school, sport and a wide range of activities. While these experiences are positive and enriching, the ongoing busyness can lead to fatigue, reduced focus and, at times, an increased susceptibility to illness, which we have noticed has significantly increased in the last few weeks.
It is important for children to have regular opportunities to rest and recover so they can recharge and maintain their wellbeing. Simple moments of calm away from constant stimulation, such as quiet time, unstructured play or a good night’s sleep, can make a significant difference, helping students reset and return to their learning feeling refreshed and ready to engage. This is equally important for adults as it is for children; modelling healthy balance, prioritising rest and taking time to recharge supports the wellbeing of our whole community.
Family Mass
A sincere thank you to all of our students, parents and staff who supported our Family Mass on Saturday evening. It was a wonderful celebration of our faith and a great reflection of the strength of our school/parish community.
We were delighted to have approximately 30 children actively involved in the Mass, contributing through singing in the choir, reading and altar serving. Their confidence, reverence and enthusiasm were outstanding, and we are incredibly proud of the way they represented our school.
A special thank you to Mrs Martinovich for her organisation of the evening and to Mrs Leith for leading our choir so beautifully. Your efforts, along with the support of our staff and families, made the Mass a memorable occasion.Thank you once again to everyone who attended and contributed.
Electric Spirits
This Sunday, 14 June, the Electric Spirits will play their first pub gig of the year at the Rosemount Hotel. They will start around 1:00 pm. If you would like to hear from the future of Australian rock music, make sure you get along!
First Holy Communion
We keep in our prayers our candidates preparing to receive their First Holy Communion. As part of their preparation, students and their families recently participated in a Parent–Child Workshop, an important step in their faith journey and understanding of this sacrament.
We look forward to celebrating with these students as they receive the sacrament on Sunday 21 June. It is always a beautiful occasion for our parish community, and we wish each of our candidates every blessing as they continue their preparation.
Hall
The move into the hall has been slightly delayed by a plumbing issue (which has activated our insurance) across the school. I do not wish to elaborate on this as I am actively trying to forget the vast majority of it… I am happy to report that the scaffolding is down and the fans have been installed; see photos below. The final piece of work prior to opening is a thorough clean inside and out. We are very close now!
Afterschool Play
Children can utilise our play spaces after school provided, they are actively supervised by a parent or guardian. A reminder that safety is still paramount during these times. Recently children have been sighted climbing fences and railings across the school, which is not in line with school expectations and strictly prohibited. We also ask for your assistance to remind your children that they cannot take balls from the sport shed or use equipment in or around the classrooms to play with afterschool unless they have express permission from a staff member. Thank you for your understanding.
Final Word
Well, for those who have been under a rock, the latest round of the AFL has highlighted the terrible disease that is MND and the tenacious courage of Neale Daniher, coupled with the incredible generosity of the Australian public. A quote that struck me from Neale is: “If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change how you think about it.”
Such a simple yet incredibly powerful message about perspective during adversity.
For those following along at home, you would have seen the seesaw that is the HS footy tipping leaderboard. Mr Wright has pulled himself out of the soupy mess to once again be on top of the leaderboard, over tommygunn99 and Lord Dawson in outright third. Who was on top of the leaderboard after 13 rounds last year, I hear you say? I haven’t a clue—nobody does. It doesn’t really matter, does it? However, it does aid my final paragraph in Spirit News! In any case, we wish all the tippers well this weekend with another tough round. Fremantle supporters have a week to rest at the top of the table, whilst the Eagles will fancy themselves a chance against North Melbourne, and hopefully the Cats will turn their season around with a win this week.
Until next time,
Ben
LifeLink Launch
Today, we went to Corpus Christi College for the Lifelink Day launch 2026, and when we arrived there were students there to greet and direct us to the auditorium. Inside the auditorium we listened to the Archbishop Timothy Costelloe, Bishop Nelson and Bishop Sproxton. They spoke about the meaning behind Lifelink Day, including the life of St Francis of Assisi, who cared for the poor and sick.
Lifelink is a charity that helps people and families in need. Lifelink day is an annual educational and fundraising event to promote understanding of the church’s respond to people in need, and to teach the responsibility of caring for the less fortunate.
We will be fundraising for Lifelink this year through our St Domnic’s Day celebrations in Term 3.

Community Notices
"Hi Families, we wanted to let you know of a fantastic new healthcare service for kids - Kinkaya is WA's first purpose-built kids and family urgent care centre that has just opened around the corner at 17 Wotan Street Innaloo (opposite Bunnings). We're sure this will help put a few minds at ease, especially with winter sports and flu season upon us! Open 8am-10pm 7 days a week, they have kid friendly pathology and will be opening their on-site X-ray in the coming weeks. There is a QR code on the poster attached if you would like to save their details for when you need them. They are purpose built for kids but the centre is open to all ages."
