Leadership Tickets!
Each day, the teaching team at Neidig hands out hundreds of Leadership Tickets. Students love earning the tickets, and these valued tickets are a way for students to earn exciting prizes. We would like to make sure families understand WHY we hand out Leadership Tickets, and how this system helps our school meet our Respectful, Responsible, and Safe expectations.
When a member of the Neidig teaching team witnesses a student demonstrating Respectful, Responsible, and/or Safe behaviors, the adult does TWO things: The adult hands the student a Leadership Ticket AND tells that student what they did to earn that recognition. We couple the verbal feedback with the delivery of the ticket so students explicitly understand how their actions and behaviors met the school-wide expectations. We have a detailed matrix of behavioral expectations. Pairing explicit verbal feedback with the tickets during their daily routine provides students with the real life experiences to help them understand how to act, how to be safe, how to interact with others, and how to be kind!
Here are some examples of what students might hear when they receive a Leadership Ticket:
- "Thank you for holding the door for me! That was a respectful thing to do!"
- "You demonstrated a lot of responsibility when you picked up the recess equipment that someone left outside. Thank you!"
- "I know your friend told you to run down the ramp in the hallway. When you told your friend that you are not going to run in the halls, that showed us that you were being safe. Great job!"
- "I saw that you gave your friend a hug when she was crying. That was so kind, and I am proud of you for being such a responsible friend!"
Please talk to your Neidig leader about their leadership tickets. More importantly, please ask your Neidig students how they earned those tickets. Were they being Respectful? Responsible? Safe? This is a wonderful opportunity to have a meaningful conversation with your child about kindness, respect, and responsibility. We know some Neidig families create their own Family Matrix to list their family expectations with Respectful, Responsible, and Safe behaviors.
Thank you, and have a wonderful weekend!

A Message from our Instrumental Music Teachers
Last Spring, at the end of the school year, we held our “Meet the Instrument” night to help students decide if they wanted to join band or orchestra. If students did not sign up back in May and June, it’s not too late! There is still time for families to sign-up their elementary students for band (grades 4 and 5) and orchestra (grades 3, 4, and 5). Last day for registration is today, September 26, 2025.
Visit qcsd.org/music for more information about elementary instrumental music lessons. Click on the big yellow banner at the top of the page to register your student, or speak with your school’s music teachers.
Thank you!

During our Caring School Community morning time, we use the Second Step ® program. This research-based program will help your child learn important skills for school and life. Our lessons will cover how to manage emotions, practice empathy, and become great at problem-solving. Please see the attached letter for more information.
