All about school counseling at the ELC
Meet Miss Louie
Hello! I’m Miss Taylor Louie, and I’m thrilled to be the school counselor here at the Early Learning Center. My role is to support students in their academic, emotional, and social development, helping them navigate the challenges of school and life with confidence and resilience.
I was a teacher for five years before going back to school to earn my master's degree in clinical mental health and school counseling. I was a counselor for a few years before moving closer to family and becoming a Brickie!
I’m passionate about creating a safe and inclusive environment where every student feels heard and supported. Whether it's helping with academic planning, providing guidance on personal issues, or facilitating group counseling sessions, my goal is to empower students to reach their full potential.
If you or your child ever need someone to talk to, whether it's about school, friendships, or anything else, I’m here to listen and help. Feel free to reach out to me via email at tlouie@hobart.k12.in.us or follow the link to fill out a form and I will follow up with you, and let’s work together to ensure a positive and successful school experience!
Looking forward to a great year ahead!

Miss Louie's Weekly Lessons
Every week I go into classrooms to work on social emotional skills! Every month you can check out what I am doing here!
College Go Week
What is College Go Week?
College Go Week is a special time when schools and communities encourage students to start thinking about college and higher education. Even though your child is just starting their school journey, it’s never too early to introduce them to the idea of college!
Why is it Important for Kindergarteners?
For kindergarteners, College Go Week is all about sparking curiosity and imagination. We use fun activities and simple concepts to help kids understand that college is something they can think about in the future. It’s a great way to start building excitement and curiosity about learning and goals. It gives our students the chance to explore careers and teach students that everyone is a lifelong learner!
What Will My Child Do During College Go Week?
- I will have a lesson about careers and students will make career hats based off of what they wanted to be!
- We will also have Careers on Wheels which is a great opportunity during the school day for the students to explore careers!
- Spirit Week! More information to come!
How Can You Support at Home?
- Encourage Curiosity: Talk about different jobs and how people go to school to learn and prepare for them.
- Support Their Dreams: Help your child dream big and talk about the exciting possibilities that come with learning and going to school.
The Goal
The goal of College Go Week for kindergarteners is to make the idea of their future goals feel exciting and achievable. It’s about planting a seed that can grow as they continue their education journey and truly be a lifelong learner.
As always, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions, concerns, or need anything. I am here to help!
Take care,
Taylor Louie
