Sagamore Hills ES Principal's Post

A MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL FREEMAN
Dear Wildcat Families, Community Members, and Friends,
WE DID IT! πππΎ
Thanks to the incredible generosity and support of our Wildcat community, we officially reached our $45,000 Skedaddle Fun Run goal!
On behalf of the students and staff of Sagamore Hills Elementary School, I want to extend my heartfelt THANK YOU to every parent, family member, friend, community member, and donor who helped make this fundraiser such a tremendous success.
Whether you made a donation, shared a fundraising link, encouraged others to give, or cheered on our Wildcats along the way, you played a part in helping us reach our goal. Every contribution, large or small, made a difference.
What makes this accomplishment especially meaningful is knowing that these funds will directly support our students and teachers. Your generosity allows us to continue creating meaningful opportunities and experiences for our Wildcats while supporting the exceptional teaching and learning happening throughout our school each day.
Our community showed exactly what is possible when we come together for our students. I am incredibly grateful for your enthusiasm, generosity, and continued support of Sagamore Hills.
Thank you for believing in our school, supporting our Wildcats, and helping us continue Learning Without Limits: The Wildcat Way!
With gratitude,
Ms. Freeman
OCTOBER DATES TO REMEMBER
SCHOOL PICTURE DAY
SPIRIT NIGHT - OCTOBER 1ST
CUSTODIAN APPRECIATION DAY - OCTOBER 2ND
Friday, October 2 is Custodian Appreciation Day! Our custodians are: Mr. Zellner, Merino, and Mr. Buchanan!
Our custodial team works tirelessly behind the scenes to keep Sagamore Hills clean, safe, and welcoming for our students, staff, and families each day. We are incredibly grateful for all they do to take care of our school!
We invite our families to help us show them some extra love! Students are encouraged to bring a thank-you note, handmade card, gift, items from Favorite Things List, or other small token of appreciation on October 2.
Letβs make sure our custodians know just how much our Wildcat community appreciates them! ππ
PLANNED EARLY CHECK-OUT ON OCTOBER 2ND
As we approach Fall Break, we understand that some families may have plans to check out their children early on Friday, October 2, 2026. Please note that Friday, 10/2/2026 is a regular school day with full instructional time.
To help us streamline the early checkout process, assist our front office team, and provide our teachers with advanced notice, we have created a Google Form for parents to complete if they plan to check out their child early on Friday, 10/2/2026.
By filling out the form, you will help us ensure that your child is ready for pickup, reducing wait times, and allowing for a smoother dismissal process.
Again, this is only for parents who may be checking out their child early on Friday, 10/2/2026 due to travel and other plans in preparation for Fall Break. Otherwise, all students are able to stay at school the full instructional day. Please note that ASA is closed on 10/2/2026.
Thank you for your cooperation and continued support!
*This form will close at 5pm on 10/1/2026.
*If you have more than 1 child at Sagamore Hills Elementary, please fill out a separate form for each child.

STUDENT ASSIGNMENT PROJECT
DeKalb County School District is taking steps to address overcrowding in several communities, including opening new and expanded schools beginning in Fall 2027. As part of this work, the District is evaluating how School Attendance Zones can best use this additional capacity to support students, families, and schools. In accordance with District Policy AD, the School Attendance Zone process is designed to support appropriate enrollment, access to educational opportunities, and effective use of school facilities and resources. The District is seeking community input from the Lakeside, Cross Keys, Chamblee, Tucker, Dunwoody, and Druid Hills clusters to help inform potential attendance zone changes.
