Career Ready Assessment
Career Readiness Assessment
As a student, and future graduate of SC Whitmore School, becoming career-ready is important for your future. Career-ready Graduates possess the skills and knowledge necessary to enter the workforce immediately. This makes them more attractive to employers and increases their chances of securing a job. Career readiness also involves preparing students for further education, whether it be vocational training, technical programs, or college. Graduates with a solid foundation in career-related skills may have more options and success in pursuing advanced degrees if they choose to do so. Even if your goal is not to go straight to the workforce, the credential has benefits.
The school is also held accountable for our College & Career Ready (CCR) graduates. The state places our CCR “score” on our school report card.
The South Carolina Career Ready Test is a state-mandated career readiness test administered to all third-year (eleventh-grade) students to measure the most common skills that employers define as foundational for career readiness. Students are assessed in four key areas:
- Math Assessment
- Reading Assessment
- Data Assessment
- Soft Skills Assessment

CCR Lessons: located in all courses
The purpose of the CCR lessons is to introduce you to some of the skills that will be on the South Carolina Career Readiness assessment.
Every high school student in South Carolina is required to take this assessment, starting in their 3rd year. At South Carolina Whitmore School we have placed practice questions in your courses to give you exposure and to provide tips as you complete this lesson activity. There are just a few questions in each practice lesson.
The questions address skills needed in the workplace. In your high school curriculum, you are learning the skills necessary for analyzing information presented in the test items.

ASVAB CEP Program
The ASVAB CEP inspires students, schools, educators and parents across the country to explore the possibilities the world of work has to offer and make an action plan as unique as each student.
The ASVAB Career Exploration Program (CEP) is a comprehensive career planning tool that enables meaningful career exploration and post-secondary planning. The ASVAB CEP harnesses the power of the world’s most validated aptitude test paired with an interest inventory to empower young people to explore the holistic world of work and make an individualized post-secondary plan.
The ASVAB CEP is sponsored by the Department of Defense with a two-part mission: to provide a career exploration service to U.S. youth and qualified leads to military recruiters. The CEP is offered at no cost to participating high schools as a public service. In the last five years, the ASVAB CEP has helped over 3 million students in more than 13,000 schools accurately identify their strengths. Participants have no obligation to the Military or to speak to a recruiter.
The ASVAB CEP inspires students, parents, and educators to take collaborative action to talk about all of the postsecondary options. This effort harnesses the collective power of families and communities to transform how people think about, talk about, and participate in post-secondary planning.
