SY22-23 Impact Aid Survey

Cardinal Families,

This SY22-23 Impact Aid Survey became available on November 1, 2022. Each year, DCPS asks all families to complete the Impact Aid survey to generate additional federal funds for DCPS. This year, the surveys will be fully electronic using the Seamless platform. All eligible applications received by December 22 will be submitted as part of the initial application due on January 31, 2023. Using the surveys linked below, all DCPS families should complete one survey per child, not household, in their preferred language. While December 22 is our initial deadline, families will have until April 30, 2023, to complete the survey. All additional eligible surveys will be included in our application amendment due June 30, 2023. Please refer to this FAQ document for additional guidance.

Do You Love JOW?

We want everyone to know how much we love J.O. Wilson! Join the “I Love J.O.” campaign by recording a short video featuring you or your Cardinal telling us why you love J.O. Wilson, and send it to Mr. Bellamy at Sean.Bellamy@k12.dc.gov. We’ll also have testimonial opportunities for parents and students during the Book Fair, Dec. 5-9. Don’t want to make a video? Send pictures of your Cardinal engaged in school or school-sponsored activities to jowilsonpta@gmail.com. Videos and photos will be used on the school’s website and social media platforms.

Coat Drive

We’re kicking off J.O.’s annual Giving Drive with our fall coat drive. Help keep Cardinals warm as the weather turns cold! New and gently used (washed and no holes) kids' coats sizes 2T-14, gloves, mittens, hats, ear muffs, and scarves may be dropped in the bin outside the school's main entrance during school hours through Thursday, Dec. 15. Email Ms. Johnson at kristina.johnson@k12.dc.gov with questions or for more information.

Interested in helping to restart some Girl Scout troops at J.O. Wilson this year?

Daisies are in grades K-1, Brownies in grades 2-3, and Juniors in grades 4-5. We need four parent volunteers for each troop — two leaders, one finance, and one sales manager. Contact Larissa Horn (larissahorn@gmail.com) to find out more.

Book Fair and Literacy Night are Coming!

Book Fair and Literacy Night are Coming!

Get Ready! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming our way (YAY!). Choosing their own books

empowers kids and inspires them to become bolder, prouder and stronger readers. AND—as

always—every book they buy earns rewards for our school.

Here’s what you need to know about the fair, which will take place from Dec. 5-9 in the library. Shop late during Literacy Night on Dec. 8 from 5:30-7:00 pm.

  • This year, say hello to eWallet—your child’s digital payment account.

  • Before the fair, set up eWallet for worry-free, cash-free purchases.

If you can’t make it to the fair, then shop at our school’s online book fair. All orders ship

directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also

benefit our school. Online ordering is open Dec. 5-18.

Visit our book fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping:

We’ll need volunteers to help set-up and staff the book fair. Please sign-up here - https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040e4babaa2caafa7-scholastic1
