FES and the PTO Sponsor the Francestown Community Supper FES and the PTO Sponsor the Francestown Community Supper

On Thursday, October 3rd, Francestown Elementary School, in partnership with the PTO, sponsored a heartwarming Community Supper that brought together students, families, and residents of Francestown. The event featured contributions from the school's students, who worked diligently to create handmade placemats for the dinner, adding a personal touch to the evening.

In addition to their creative efforts, the students also played a role in preparing soup for the event, ensuring that the citizens of Francestown were well-fed with delicious options such as cheeseburger soup and beef stew. The ingredients for these dishes were generously provided by families, highlighting the community spirit and support that made the evening possible.

The PTO worked tirelessly behind the scenes to organize the supper, coordinating the contributions and making sure there was plenty of soup and dessert to go around. PTO families, alongside students, stepped up to serve the meal, further demonstrating the collaborative effort that defined the event.

Francestown Elementary School is incredibly thankful for the overwhelming support from its families and the PTO, whose hard work and generosity made the Community Supper a memorable and successful evening for all.

Francestown Elementary School has decided to hold a Read-A-Thon this year!

Read-A-Thons actually get your reader excited about reading and it gives friends and family the opportunity to encourage your child to read even more.

Our Read-A-Thon starts Monday, October 7, 2024.

About one week before our Read-A-Thon starts we will send home instructions on how to activate your reader's personal page. This is where you will be able to view and record their progress.

We encourage you to activate your reader’s account today by clicking on https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/323831343236/1 and following the simple instructions.

We've chosen Read-A-Thon because it will not take much of your time, gives your child a reason to read and helps in the development of stronger reading skills.

Part of our Month of Literacy is to keep track of the number of minutes and books read. Please consider using the reading log sent home or logging minutes online. We announce the total number of minutes read everyday! You do not have to donate to participate!

We hope EVERYONE participates.

Thanks so much,

Francestown Elementary School

To celebrate a month of literacy, we are excited to be reading the same book in every class. On Friday, the entire school came together to read the first chapter of Brambleheart by Henry Cole.

The story follows Twig, whose luck begins to change when he discovers a mysterious egg that hatches into Char, a talented and loyal dragon. Together, Twig and Char create incredible metalwork projects, though Twig keeps Char’s help a secret from everyone except his friend Lily. Twig passes off the stunning work as his own, but his plan unravels when the town bully, a weasel named Basil, uncovers the truth. Char is taken from Twig and locked away.
