Last Friday, Sam Mo kicked off a narrative unit using the virtual classroom to gather a panel to share authentic stories, wisdom, and inspiration on what the "The Power of Story" meant to them and their life journey.

Ms Mo's students responded and found this to be an inspiring and engaging way to help them see how "story-telling is in our DNA" and that the best stories begin with and within us.

School reopening is a constantly changing topic, and the deans continue to monitor data from a variety of sources. NO REOPENING DATE HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED, AND SCHOOL LEADERSHIP IS COMMITTED TO OPENING SCHOOL ONLY WHEN IT IS SAFE TO DO SO. Early this week, parents are going to be asked to commit to distance learning or hybrid learning for the remainder of the fall semester. This data, along with current health metrics and parent survey results will help school leadership to establish the timeline for resuming in-person learning. We expect that we will be able to provide a minimum of two week’s advance notice once a return date is established.

School reopening (whenever that may be) will always be guided by our School Reopening & Safety Plan.

This year's Professional Development will focus on Antiracism and Inclusion. Although we typically offer Professional Development Sessions for academic and conservatory teachers only, the topic for the upcoming PD will be geared towards the entire OCSA family (staff and faculty.)

Staff and faculty have the option to attend one of the following sessions:

• Thursday, September 3rd, 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
• Friday, September 4th, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Please RSVP to either sessions using THIS form.

Conservatory teachers, elective teachers and hourly staff will be compensated for participating in one of the above sessions. Attendance will be taken during the session.

Special Note for Academic Teachers:

While academic teachers can attend either PD session Thursday, Friday, September 4 is still considered a required work/contract day. There will be no other meetings scheduled on Friday, and teachers will have time to plan and/or collaborate with colleagues.

As a reminder, Back to School Night will be VIRTUAL this year, and each teacher needs to create a personalized back-to-school video for each of their classes.

• If information provided is the same for multiple classes, then only one video link is required.
• Video should not exceed 10 minutes

Video should be uploaded to YouTube or uploaded to Google Drive

• YouTube: When publishing a video, select unlisted to make videos accessible to anyone with the link
• Google Drive Links - be sure the video is set to public so anyone can watch it

• Video links for each course to be entered in THIS form by Friday September 4th

Contents of video should include :

• Personal introduction of the teacher.

• What are the essential learning outcomes for your students?

• How are grades determined in this class?

• How can students receive additional support, if needed?

• Any additional information .

Virtual BTSN Presentation Tips:

• Teachers should dress professionally
  

• Be thoughtful of video background

• Limit background noises or distractions

• Can include slide deck (recommended)

Once finished and uploaded to Youtube or Google Drive, please submit your video links to the 2020 Virtual Back to School Night Video Submission Form

• If you are set to receive a package sent to OCSA, it will be delivered to your office or classroom.
• If you do not have an office or classroom it will be held at the front desk.
• Please make sure to inform our school receptionists about your packages/deliveries.

Anyone entering an OCSA building is required to complete a DAILY health screening before entering. Daily health screening procedures will include:

• Completion of the OCSA Campus Visitor Health Screening Form - this form will ask questions like where you are going on campus, how long you will be there, as well as some health questions and acknowledgements of mask policies we have implemented in connection with the School Reopening Plan. This form is required to be completed DAILY for any OCSA employee who enters a campus building, and can be completed before you arrive on campus (recommend you save the link on your devices for easy access).

If you have elected to work on the OCSA campus during distance learning, please adhere to the campus hours below:
