A note from Ms. Ballard

Greetings!

The month of March is a time of transitioning from the many winter activities into the anticipation of spring. As we hope for warmer weather, we want to keep our students focused on continuing to strive to do their best. I appreciate all of the effort you put in at home to ensure this carries over into their school day, as it impacts their success. Thank you to all of our students, staff, families, and PTO for your participation and continuous support.

Read Across America: WInchester Avenue was the place to be last week for reading. Students and staff enjoyed 30 minutes of school-wide reading. Thank you to our Read Across America Coordinators, Mrs. Aversa and Mrs. Elgin, and all of the helping hands behind the scenes.

Thank you for making daily decisions with our students as your top priority. Your dedication is the foundation for their achievement.

Helpful Hints/Tips Helpful Hints/Tips

The info below contains recommendations to help your child be successful.

Social-emotional regulation supports a child’s development of self-confidence, empathy, social skills, cognitive thinking, mental health, and physical well-being. Emotional regulation is associated with fewer behavioral issues, stronger school performance, and better interpersonal relationships.

Coaching a child’s emotions involves labeling the child’s emotions, validating the child’s feelings, and co-regulating with the child. Labeling is acknowledging a child’s struggle. The child learns vocabulary to talk about their feelings. Validating is accepting the child’s emotions without judgment. Co-regulating is helping the child regulate by providing calm support and guidance.

Attendance Matters Attendance Matters

Check your child's planner and folder each night to check the attendance tracker.

Please aim to send your child to school each day. If your child is not sick, please send them to school.

Walkers

We understand that older siblings may need to walk our kiddos home. Please be sure your child's teacher is aware of this arrangement. We have a new form to be completed by parents/guardians of students that are walked home by siblings that are under 18 years of age. Once the teacher is made aware, we will send home the form.
