Happy Friday, LP Families!

LP has created a School Improvement Team to take an in-depth look at student achievement and identify ways we can improve for the 2024-2025 school year. We need your help! Please click on the link below to complete an anonymous survey. We are looking at three different components of our school: school belonging, perceptions of learning taking place at LP, and barriers to connecting with school. Thank you in advance for providing us with your critical input! You can find the link to the survey here: https://forms.office.com/r/a71Fr8g3ug

We would appreciate if our families could complete this survey no later than April 8th. Thank you!

We have a big week coming up before our much anticipated Spring Break. All students will be visiting the Rochester Museum and Science Center as part of our exciting kick off to our 'One School One Book' initiative. Thank you to our many parent chaperones for supporting this field trip! Also, a huge thank you to our OSOB Committee, Mrs. Costello, Mr. DeJohn, Mrs. Antonelli, Mr. Spadoni, Mrs. Miller, Ms. Weigel, Ms. Young, and Ms. Weitzel for putting together several activities to engage students in reading!

In addition to our upcoming field trip, students started their swim unit at the high school and even participated in a statewide mathematics tournament on Thursday! We have many great things happening at LP; I continue to be proud of the opportunities our staff provide to students every day.

Please note, the next LP newsletter will arrive the Friday after Spring Break (4/12). The district is using a different platform to host building newsletters called Thrillshare. We will no longer be using Smore after this week so be on the lookout for a different email. It's not spam!

I hope you all enjoy your weekend and extended break. For all of our families who celebrate, we wish you a happy Easter!

Remembering Gian Ortiz ❤️

With permission from the Ortiz family, I would like to share a touching story of how one LP student is helping to keep his brother's memory and spirit alive. Esaias and his family were recently featured on WHEC, check out the story below. I hope you will join us in sending much love and appreciation to the Ortiz family.

Solar Eclipse Glasses

Safety First!

As many of you know, our area will be experiencing a solar eclipse on April 8th in the afternoon. To make sure our students and families enjoy this experience safely, the district has purchased special eclipse glasses for every student and staff member! We will send them home with students next week. The extra-dark shades block out almost all light, allowing you to look directly at the sky without damaging your retinas. Check out our favorite science guy, Bill Nye for more info!

In case you hadn’t heard the news, we’re doing a yearbook again this year! The yearbook is looking to celebrate current LP 5th graders as they conclude their elementary career and begin the next chapter of their schooling! 5th grade families have the opportunity to send in a baby picture of their child to be added to the yearbook with a short message (50 words or less) to their child. Who: This only applies to current LP 5th graders When: Picture/message/money due by Thursday, March 28. Cost: Due to limited space in the yearbook, there may only be 1 picture per student. The cost is $5 (exact cash only) to be sent in to school in a bag/envelope labeled with your child’s name. This money will be used for fun activities at the 5th grade end-of-year picnic. Where: Please send digital copies of the message/photo to Mrs. Antonelli at jantonelli@eastiron.org If you don’t get a confirmation email in 2 school days, please reach out again. Please send the money in at the same time you email your picture. Please reach out with any questions.
