The Hamburg School Preschool Garden is an exciting new initiative that is currently underway as part of Phase 1 of our development. With materials and Vego Garden products already purchased, our preschool students have begun the hands-on process of planting seeds and learning about the early stages of growth. This project provides a meaningful opportunity for our youngest learners to explore nature, responsibility, and the fundamentals of gardening. As we move forward, this garden will continue to grow and evolve, with plans for future expansion to further enrich student experiences and outdoor learning opportunities.
Hamburg School is partnering with the American Heart Association to participate in National Walking Day and raise some money for their Kids Heart Challenge. By participating in Kids Heart Challenge, our students will learn how to keep their hearts, bodies and brains healthy while helping kids with special hearts live longer, healthier lives.
On Wednesday, April 1st, Hamburg School will participate in this challenge while celebrating National Walking Day by heading out to the field and walking two laps around the field all together.
Students are able to get sponsors and raise money for this cause as they pledge to walk between April 1st and May 8th. Any student who chooses to participate in the fundraising with the support of their family can sign up for our Hamburg School Team on the American Heart Association Kids Heart Challenge webpage listed below. Various levels of sponsorship and fundraising will earn the students different prizes. Check out the flier for more information, and get ready to walk!

🎪The Chaos Carnival 🎪
Hamburg School Class of 2026 “Take Action” Community Service Project
The Class of 2026 (8th-grade leaders) has proven that taking action can make a real difference in their school community. Through creativity, teamwork, and dedication, these students brought joy and excitement to younger grades while learning valuable life skills along the way.
Their first project, “Leprechaun Mischief,” was designed especially for students in Pre-K through 3rd grade. Bright and early at 7:00 AM, the 8th graders arrived at school to transform classrooms into magical, mischievous spaces. They decorated rooms with playful surprises and left behind small trinkets for students to discover. The result? Smiles, laughter, and a memorable start to the day for the youngest learners.
Building on that success, the Class of 2026 took on an even bigger challenge: creating and running a “Chaos Carnival” for grades Pre-K through 7th grade. This was no small task - students built the event from the ground up. They designed and created games, decorated the space, organized activities, and even served snow cones. The carnival was full of energy, music, and fun, bringing together the entire school community.
With support from the Hamburg PTA, both events became shining examples of what student leadership can accomplish. These projects were inspired by the students’ Leadership Take Action class trip, where they were challenged to step up, get involved, and make a difference. Along the way, they faced obstacles, solved problems, and worked collaboratively - developing important life skills such as responsibility, communication, and perseverance.
The Class of 2026 didn’t just plan events - they created experiences that brought their Hamburg School community together. Their message was clear:
- Be present. Get involved. Take action.
And thanks to the efforts of the Hamburg School Class of 2026, that message is already making a lasting impact.

Christopher Land is the teacher of the Engineering Program at Sussex County Technical School. He is sharing an exciting opportunity for your students, our new Girls Without Limits Program for elementary and middle school female students.
We are offering this program in response to the continued underrepresentation of women in STEM fields. Recent data shows that women make up about 28% of the STEM workforce and only 13% of engineers. Our goal is to help break down barriers, build confidence, and encourage young girls to explore their interests in science, technology, engineering, and math. This program is completely free and designed to provide hands-on, engaging experiences that inspire curiosity and creativity.
We hope that you will share this opportunity with your students. I have attached a program flyer below with additional details. The flyer is also currently published on our school website, www.sussextech.org. The program is currently limited to 25 participants so please encourage your students to sign up soon.
