Keeping a Pulse on Student Life at WMHS! 08/29/2025
Welcome to Our Heartbeat Newsletter!
If you're new here—welcome! Every Friday, we send out our Heartbeat of the Wildcat newsletter to keep you informed and connected. Each edition includes highlights of what’s been happening around the school during the week, as well as important updates and upcoming events.
Stay tuned and thank you for being part of our Wildcat community!
Around the Halls
Our Agriculture students have officially adopted chicken eggs! Incubation is underway, and they’ll be tracking each egg’s development over the next 21 days until hatching time.
Anatomy students practiced anatomical positions and dissection using gummy bears.
Mrs. Williams’ Honors Biology students are using preserved specimens to study and identify the characteristics of life.
In Chemistry we are learning about experimental design and chemistry fundamentals using sparklers. Getting the year off to a HOT start!
CCP biology students studying the properties of water by making it ‘walk’ down a string
Physical science students are applying the scientific method and studying the respiration rates of fish.
Mrs. Moore's ELA flex group practiced utilizing prefixes , root words, and suffixes to help them break apart the names of unknown dinosaurs and then illustrate the dinosaur based on their scientific name. This skill helps students determine the meaning of unknown words when they encounter them in the texts.
Mrs. Cleaver sixth graders took the field this week with a plot card sort challenge using the short story Just Once. Like a football team running plays, they worked together to move Moose’s story down the field from kickoff (exposition) to the game-winning touchdown (resolution).
Gwen, Kara, and Lucy are kicking off a marketing and graphic design internship with our partner, The Williamsburg Mercantile. We are thankful for the collaboration and opportunity to explore, create and learn.
School Information
Grant Students - Picture Day
For Grant students: they will have their own picture day. Please make sure your student gets their photo taken there, as Grant will send those photos to us to include in our yearbook.
As many of you know, we’re excited to launch our brand-new website and the official Burg Schools app!
We encourage everyone to download the app, as it will serve as a one-stop hub for all school-related communication. Whether you’re looking for important announcements, school updates, newsletters, parent-teacher communication, athletic schedules, or club information, the app will have it all. It’s designed to keep parents, students, and staff informed and connected in one convenient place. Make sure to download the Burg Schools app today and stay in the loop all year long!
