The Positivity Project The Positivity Project

zoom_out_map
The Positivity Project (P2) is an organization whose mission is to empower students to build positive relationships and become their best selves Positive psychology’s 24 character strengths serve as its foundation. Ranging from bravery and perseverance to integrity and gratitude, the character strengths are classified and described in the 800-page book Character Strengths and Virtues. These strengths aren’t about ignoring the negative. Instead, they help us overcome life’s inevitable adversities.
Students who complete the Tiger Challenge (Pre K-2nd Grade = Reflection Journal in class, 3rd-6th Grade = Google Classroom activity with code y7tcpal) have a chance to be the Tiger of the Week. Anyone can nominate a student or staff member who was Caught with Character for showing Tiger PRIDE or a Positivity Project character strength here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe_lbQ0dPTzl57TKo5HXV8QHgZqsSCaYP6zd0bMNN0PsYjQew/viewform

Self-Care for Kids!

Self-care is when you take time to do things that make your mind feel happy and your body feel calm. Here are a few ideas to start!

1. Take a break. Five minutes can change your perspective.

2. Do your favorite things

3. Learn to relax. Try taking a deep breath!

4. Take care of your body. Did you get enough sleep?

5. Be around people you enjoy.

6. Share your feelings. Talk to an adult you trust about how you feel!

IMPORTANT! IMPORTANT!

PLEASE Put Names In Coats & Belongings PLEASE Put Names In Coats & Belongings

zoom_out_map

Please put names in your child's belongings, especially coats. Children take their coats off at recess while playing and leave them outside. We work hard to get lost items back to students, please help us with this by putting names in them.

Thank you!

Our Birthday Book Club continues to grow and add books to our library. Thank you to Taylor Grossman, Emery Porticos, Francisco Amezcua, Kenneth Pittenger, Gloria Zubiri, and Henley Lyfoung who donated a book to the Birthday Book Club in the month of January.

************************************************************************************************

The Century PTC sponsors the Birthday Book Club for the library. Any student who would like to participate may come to the library and purchase a book from a selection to donate to our Century library. This program has been very exciting for the students at Century. They enjoy being the first to check out their book, seeing their pictures on the birthday wall, and checking out books that have been donated by their friends.

In recognition of your donation, a label will be placed inside the front of the book, we will add your picture to our birthday wall in the library, and your donation will be acknowledged during morning announcements. At the end of each month, the names of students who participated in the Birthday Book Club will be printed in the Century Bulletin.

We will send a reminder about the Birthday Club to students the month of their birthday. This program is voluntary. If you have any questions please call Mrs. Cordova in the library at (559) 327-8482.

************************************************************************************************

If you have a birthday in the summer and would like to join the Birthday Book Club, please stop by the library for information.
