FCMS EXPRESSWeek of April 27, 2026

FCMS Family,

Congratulations to FCMS teacher Mrs. Amy Mitchum, who will be honored at Victory Field on Saturday, May 9th, during the Indianapolis Indians Teacher Appreciation Night as a finalist for the state “Teacher of the Year” award.

She was nominated through the Indiana Association of School Principals and selected as a final nominee, earning the opportunity to be recognized on the field during the pregame ceremony. Mrs. Mitchum is currently in her 32nd year serving the FCCSC school system. Her dedication, passion, and commitment have made a lasting and positive impact on countless students over the years. She is truly deserving of this recognition, and we are incredibly proud of her accomplishments.

Game time is 6:35 PM, with the pregame ceremony beginning around 6:00 PM. During this ceremony, all nine finalists will be recognized, and winners at each school level will be announced. This special honor also includes prize packages provided by the Indiana Association of School Principals, Teachers Treasures, and the Indianapolis Indians.

Anyone wishing to attend the game to support and celebrate Mrs. Mitchum can purchase discounted tickets using the link below: https://www.gofevo.com/event/Teacherappreciation777

Let’s show our support and celebrate this well-deserved achievement!

Mr. Trent Liggett

Proud FCMS Principal

MCS and FCMS Collab

At the beginning of the semester, Mrs.Cochran's second grade class at Mt.Carmel School read the story "Hey! That's my Monster!" After reading the story and doing some activities based on the tale, they created their OWN monster on paper. Then, those paper monsters were shipped to Mrs. Edwards 8th grade FACS class at Franklin County Middle School. When those talented 8th graders received the monster templates, they got to work making magic happen! With the help of Mrs.Edwards, they cut, sewed, and created a stuffy version of each monster.
Those stuffy monsters were delivered to Mrs.Cochran's second graders today and the excitement in her classroom was electric!
Each second grader received their paper monster back, a brand new hand sewn monster, a handwritten letter from their 8th grade creator and a picture of them as well. What a wonderful collaboration of 2nd grade and 8th grade FCCSC students. This is something that I am sure BOTH sets of students will remember for a long time.
