Swenke Elementary Paw Print
September
Nespeca's Notes
We have had a wonderful start to the school year at Swenke! Our students are settling into their daily routines and procedures, and our classrooms are already filled with learning, laughter, and excitement. Our teachers and staff are working incredibly hard to create welcoming and engaging learning environments, and our students are doing a fantastic job showing their Snow Leopard pride each day. Thank you to our families for your continued support as we begin another amazing year at Swenke, where everyone has a spot!
Just a reminder that the Paw Print is sent out on the first Friday of every month. Please read it in its entirety, as it contains a great deal of useful information about activities, events, important dates, and reminders for the entire month.

Staff Favorites
Our Staff Favorites List are now right at your fingertips! There is no longer a notebook at the front desk. You can now access and download the Staff Favorites list directly on your phone. Please see the directions below to get started.
Lunch Visitors-September 14
Lunch visitors are welcome at Swenke on Monday through Fridays; however, any relative visiting for lunch (without a child’s parent being present) must have prior written permission from the parent/guardian.
Due to space constraints, there are only so many seats available at the visitors’ table. For this reason, each child may have a lunch visitor 4 times a month.
You are welcome to bring lunch for your child if you are eating with him/her that day.
Due to food allergies and safety concerns, students will only be allowed to have lunch with their own parent/guardian. Students may not have lunch with a friend’s parents. Parents may only provide lunch for their child and may not bring lunch for another child.
Car Rider Reminders
Arrival Procedures: Please do not allow your child to get out of the car unattended. Students must remain inside the vehicle until a staff member reaches the car and opens the door. We have noticed many students getting out before a staff member arrives, sometimes while traffic in the inner lane is still moving. For the safety of all students and staff, please wait for assistance before allowing your child to exit the vehicle.
Afternoon Dismissal: Please remember to hang your car rider tag from your rearview mirror during afternoon dismissal. Displaying your tag helps our staff quickly identify authorized vehicles and ensures that each student is safely released to the correct car.
If you do not have your car rider tag displayed, you will be asked to park, come inside, and present a photo ID so we can verify that you are authorized to pick up the student.
Thank you for helping us keep dismissal safe, smooth, and efficient for all our Snow Leopards!
Cell phones are not allowed in a school zone. Parents, please remember to stay off your phone during car rider arrival and dismissal to help us ensure a safe environment for everyone.

Go Gold
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness and show support for children and families affected by childhood cancer. This month is especially meaningful to our Swenke community, as some of our students are currently battling cancer or are in remission.
We invite our students and staff to show their support by wearing gold every Thursday throughout September. During the week of September 21–25, we will wear gold every day. Students may also bring a $1 donation that week to support a local charity, The Haley Rasco Foundation. Students who donate will have the opportunity to write their names on the library windows as a symbol of their support.
Hispanic Heritage Month
Students Leaving Early
If your child will be leaving school early, please send a written note with them that morning. All transportation changes must also be submitted in writing. For safety reasons, we cannot accept transportation changes by phone or email, except in a true emergency. Please plan ahead and notify the school as early as possible. All transportation changes need to be made by 2:45 p.m.
Cell Phones/Personal Communication Devices
In accordance with House Bill 1481, passed during the 89th Texas Legislative Session, students may not use personal wireless communication devices during the school day.
Devices include, but are not limited to:
● Cell phones
● Smartwatches
● Earbuds/AirPods
● Headphones
● Tablets
● Personal laptops
● Smart glasses
If students bring these devices to school, they must remain powered off and stored in their backpacks throughout the instructional day.
Students needing to contact a parent may request to use a school phone. Likewise, in the event of an emergency, parents should contact the campus directly rather than attempting to reach their child.
Violations of this policy will result in device confiscation and disciplinary consequences as outlined in the 2026–2027 CFISD Student Code of Conduct.
We appreciate your support in helping us maintain a focused, distraction-free learning environment.
Chromebooks
Parent Square
The district is no longer using Remind and will discontinue the use of SchoolMessenger beginning in January. Please review the flyer below for information on how to sign up for the district’s new communication platform. We encourage all families to register now so they are prepared for a smooth transition in January.
