Lutherville Lab Report
What's gone down & what's coming up at the leopards' lair.
October 15th, 2021
This week the words that kept coming to mind for me were "collaboration" and "perspective." I was reminded that we are in this this pandemic together and being safe, cautious, and proactive is so important as responsible members of our community. In conversations with staff we were reminded to keep perspective that we're working (very hard!) to help students recover from unusual schooling experiences in the past few years, while still working under unusual circumstance in the present. And we discussed we're grateful for the collaboration of this school family, including our community, to navigate these times.
I do want to please make sure everyone reviews the image below and we all collaborate to protect in-person learning. If your child is sick, awaiting a test result, or had close contact with someone positive (or presumed to be positive), PLEASE do keep them home and consult with Nurse Vita (443-809-7385, svita@bcps.org) for more information. We know it can be challenging to keep children home, but sending them in can result in excluding other families as close contacts to your child, forcing more children to be home. We are all in this together and prevention is pivotal!
DIBELs score reports are coming home for students in grades KG to 2. Please see the document attached to this week's newsletter with more explanation for that assessment which is administered at the beginning of the year to inform instruction and support going forward.
Finally, if you have not yet completed your Annual Student Information Review, please do so as soon as you are able. More information below.
In partnership,
-Mr. McComb

Annual Student Information Review
Thank you to families who sent in paper updates for contacts for their students in to the office. Those are being input as received. We are pleasantly surprised that BCPS has provided a way for families to make these updates themselves through the Parent Focus Portal.
The Annual Student Information Review Form and optional Parental Privacy Preferences Opt-Out Form are both now available in the portal to be completed. Parent directions for completing the forms are located in the Focus Schoology group, Enrollment. Parent instructions for accessing the Parent Portal are located in the Parent Portal folder in the Focus Schoology Group.
