Hello MES Families,

THANK YOU to our wonderful volunteers and PTA for a VERY successful Field Day last Friday! Special kudos goes out to Samantha Levangie for leading the charge again this year! We were all exhausted by the end of the day, but with smiles on our faces for such an incredible event! We had volunteers at each station, and the kids had so much fun running, jumping, cycling, and giggling! It was definitely a memorable event for the 25-26 school year!

The 2026 Art Show is happening this Thursday starting at 5:00pm. We hope that you and your family will be able to come and take a look at all the incredible projects our students have done under the leadership of Ms. Nicole! We even have a special connected project which includes art from all of our staff and students combined that will be unveiled! We hope to see you all there to celebrate together!

3rd-5th Grade Parents - Other than make ups, our 3rd and 4th graders are FINISHED with their state testing, and we could not be more proud of the effort that they have shown. Kudos to all of them for their perserverance and positive attitudes! We have 1-2 days left for our 5th graders (Science) along with make ups, and then it's going to be wrapped up for the year! Thank you parents for your encouragement along the way!

Consistent attendance is one of the most important factors in a child’s success at school. When students are present each day, they build strong routines, stay connected with their classmates, and fully engage in learning. Even a few missed days can lead to gaps in understanding and make it harder for children to feel confident in class. Thank you also for helping your child arrive at school on time and ready to learn. Your partnership makes such a meaningful difference in their growth and success!

Mental Health Awareness Month Activities Mental Health Awareness Month Activities

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and at MES we’re reminding students and families that mental health is an important part of overall health 😌.

In the elementary years, children are learning to recognize feelings, ask for help, solve problems, and connect with others in healthy ways. When students feel safe, seen, and supported, we help build a foundation for lifelong well-being.

Our Mental Health & Wellness events in May support that growth by helping students and families build skills and connection.

Our next event is Friday, May 29, from 1–2pm (There is NOT an event this Friday due to the long weekend)

An interactive workshop for families ~ Oshri will be visiting for this session, which looks to be amazing!

Please RSVP at bit.ly/MESwellness. These after-school events are free, open to the whole family, and not drop-off events.

Hope to see you there!

Wednesdays are for Wellness! Every Wednesday, students are invited to visit our STEAM Cart at recess time for hands-on activities that support creativity, problem-solving, and emotional wellness. Each activity aligns directly with the Character Counts pillar of the month — Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship — helping students practice positive character traits through fun, engaging activities. These activities take place either outside at the STEAM Cart or if you don't see us outside - inside the Wellness Center!

Malibu Library - Did you know that at our local library they don't just have books to check out, but also Tools and Music Instruments? Maybe your child is interested in a musical instrument, but you're unsure about buying one before knowing if they are really going to stick with it - you can check one out from the Malibu Branch! You will need to sign up for a library card before you can check out the item and some items may need to be requested in advance. What a great service!
