Arnett Weekly Newsletter

August 15, 2025
Welcome to the 2025-2026 School Year!
We are so excited to kick off the 2025-2026 school year, and to have our little Falcons in the building again! Whether you are new to Arnett, or a returning family, we are so grateful to have you in our Falcon Family! This is my 3rd year at Arnett, and I am happy to be returning and working with you and your children again. I am so proud to be here! If you need anything, please reach out. Student success takes all of us working together to make sure they have all supports in place to make it a great year.
Thank you to everyone who came to Meet the Teacher Night on Monday! We had 350 family members at our event! The parent support is absolutely fantastic at Arnett!
Remember that ALL COMMUNICATION (newsletters, behavior, announcements, etc.) will run through our new Erlanger Elsmere App! Please see directions below to download the app. The info for your account is pulled from Infinite Campus, so please keep all info up to date as it changes.
Dropoff/Pickup Routines
The school day officially begins at 8:00. Students are expected to be in their classrooms ready to learn by the 8:00 start time.
When dropping your child off in the mornings, please remember that you MAY NOT drop your child off before 7:30 am, as students are not supervised and may not be left alone. Students can enter the building at 7:30 and head to the cafeteria. Breakfast will be served from 7:30-7:50. All students receive free breakfast and lunch each day regardless of income. Students may go directly to their classrooms at 7:45 each morning.
Car riders will unload from cars in the entire yellow drop off/loading zone. Please do not wait until you are in the front of the line to let your child out of the car, as this holds up traffic behind you. Parents, please remain in your car when unloading. If you need to help your child out of the car, please pull into a parking spot and walk your child to the drop off area.
CAR RIDERS are dismissed at 3:00. All car riders will be picked up at the front of the school building, near the sidewalk that exits directly from the school’s main entrance. *Please note- no cars should be parked outside of the school building more than 30 minutes prior to the end of the school day.
Each car rider will have an assigned number that will be entered into a spreadsheet as cars pull up in the car line, to ensure that the correct student is released at the appropriate time. Each family will receive two (2) number tags to hang on their rearview mirror, and students will have that same number tag on a keychain to keep on their backpack.
Cars will make 2 distinct lines for orderly and smooth pickup, and to help prevent traffic backup onto Kimberly Drive and Stephenson Road. Parents should remain in their cars and wait until their child is brought to their car by a staff member. Once the child is in the car, they will then be directed to pull forward to exit by either circling around the flagpole and going back down Kimberly drive, or going straight up the hill and out.
THERE ARE NO U-TURNS ALLOWED ON KIMBERLY DRIVE. Vehicles that are in line coming up the hill on Kimberly Drive are advised to stay in line, do not block the opening of the apartment buildings, and avoid passing the line of cars that are stopped for pick-up.
Those coming from the other direction (from Elsmere) may pull into a parking spot and walk over to pick up their child.
In order to keep everyone safe, students are not allowed to walk down to vehicles that are past the yellow zone or across the street to a parked vehicle. Please drive slowly and carefully through this area.
Students that are everyday walkers will be dismissed from the side door next to the teacher parking lot once the majority of the cars have picked up their children, and there are no more cars blocking the crosswalk. This system has been designed to protect our students, and your children. Walkers who are picked up by a walking parent will be assigned a number and will be dismissed at the time their parent presents their number to the staff member at the side door. There is absolutely no parking in the apartment complex, and cars run the risk of being ticketed or towed. If you are a driver, please just get into the car line to pick up your children.
Sick Child?
If your child is sick, please call the school office before 9 am to let us know! You can also email Aubrie Dashiell, our attendance clerk, at Aubrie.Dashiell@erlanger.kyschools.us. If your child has a fever, please remember that they need to stay home from school until they are fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medications (Tylenol, Ibuprofen, etc.). Please send a note in with your child when they return. Parents have up to 8 parent excuses each year, plus any doctor's notes if they go to the doctor. Doctor's notes do not count against "parent excused" sick days.
Your child will be counted tardy if they arrive after 8:00 or leave school before 3:00 pm. Students with 3 unexcused absences are considered truant. If you have any concerns about your child's attendance, please reach out to us for support.
Meet the Faculty!
Welcome to our 2025-2026 Arnett Falcon Faculty!
School Supplies
If anyone is able to send in extra boxes of tissues, we use those in all rooms (not just homerooms...also in art, music, library, resource rooms, etc.) and are always in need of extra boxes, especially during cold season! We appreciate any extras at any time of year!
If you need assistance with school supplies, clothes, shoes, food, etc., please reach out to our NEW Family Resource Center Coordinator, Alanya Hoppius, and she will help you get any items you need. Alanya.Hoppius@erlanger.kyschools.us. We are always here to help when you need us!
Please Complete Online Registration if you have not already!
Parents, Don't forget to do your Annual Online Registration today! Here are the instructions:

Click on the link: https://kyede3.infinitecampus.org/campus/portal/parents/erlanger_elsmere.jsp
- Log into your parent portal. If your portal is disabled or if you have forgotten your password, you will need to call school to get your new password and enable your account.

This new app will allow for notifications, 2-way communication, etc. It will translate into over 100 languages for seamless communication. It is a one stop shop for all things EES! I will be posting our weekly newsletter on this as well.
Download the app today and connect with us! I will be posting more updates in the coming weeks as we learn more about the features of our app! We will also have a table at our Meet the Teacher Night with someone who can help answer your questions, help you download, and get you signed up.
Legislation Updates!
There have been several new bills passed in Kentucky that took effect this school year. We have included a brief summary of each one for you.
No Cell Phones
Students may still bring a cell phone with them if they need them to walk home, but phones must be turned off and in backpacks throughout the school day. This new law does not change anything at Arnett, as this was always our rule while our students are in the building. They may turn them on after they leave school grounds.
Moment of Silence
Each day will begin with 1-2 minutes of silence. Please discuss with your child what that might look like for them if you would like. They may choose to close their eyes, breathe, and quiet their minds, say a prayer, or have a moment of meditation. This is a wonderful opportunity to calm anxieties, prepare for our day, think about kindness, honor a moment in their day, etc. The school may not tell students how to spend their 1-2 minutes, so please talk this over with your child for what is most appropriate for them.
District Approved, Traceable Communication
No school employees may use any form of digital communication with students other than the approved platforms. This will all run through Apptegy. Please see info below and make sure you are signed up to receive information from the school. You may also message school employees through that app.
Parent Volunteers, Building Info, and Other Supports
To ensure the safety of our students we require all visitors to stop in the office and have their license scanned. If you are visiting, please contact the school prior to your visit and be prepared to show your ID.
If you are interested in chaperoning field trips or volunteering in the building, please stop in the office and complete a background check.
The front office is open from 7:45-3:30 daily.
If your child takes medication at school, we must have the proper paperwork from a doctor. Please contact the office for additional details.
Throughout the year your child may need additional academic or social and emotional support. If so, you will receive information from the school notifying you of that intervention. We are also partnering with the 21st Century/YMCA program to offer after-school academic help for your child as needed. This program is called “Arnett Academy” and runs in 6-8 week sessions.
In the event of inclement weather we are the Erlanger Elsmere School District, NOT Kenton County Schools.
In the event of an emergency occurring at school, you will be notified via our call out system. If your information changes throughout the school year please call the office to update it so we can accurately communicate with you.
We expect all students, staff members, and guests at Arnett to Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible!

The Character Effect
Strength of the Week: Introduction to Strengths!
This year, our students will be following The Character Effect curriculum, which is a Social Emotional curriculum that focuses on different strengths each week. The Character Effect lessons teach students how to practice those strengths, as well as spot those strengths in others. We will share the strength we have worked on this week in our weekly newsletter. Ask your student(s) how they showed these strengths each week!
Week 1 – Introduction to Strengths: Students who understand their own strengths will activate motivation and engagement in school, in their home and in their community. Please join us this year, as we explore the benefits of Strengths in us and around us with The Strength of the Week.
Thank you for all you do!
If your child is sick and will not be at school, please call the front office at 859-727-1488 before 9:00 am.
If you have feedback or suggestions on things you'd like to see in the newsletter, resources you may need for your child's educational growth, or suggestions for ways to improve our school, please reach out to me. I would love to work with you to make Arnett the best school for all of our learners! I look forward to working with you!
If you need to reach me, the best way to do that is to email me at Monica.Crockett@erlanger.kyschools.us or call the school office. I will always try to answer all calls and emails within 24 hours, or on Monday if it is the weekend.
